524 Advanced <strong>Adler</strong>ian Interventions and Theory 3 Credits<br />

Prerequisites: 402, 431, 432, 514, and 523. This class will teach <strong>Adler</strong>ian theory<br />

and interventions within play therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and<br />

assessment <strong>of</strong> lifestyle and social interest. Theory and interventions related to<br />

children, adolescents, young adults, and the elderly will be reviewed as well as<br />

an in depth investigation and understand <strong>of</strong> complex emotions and ideas such<br />

as guilt, shame, grief, and Gemeinschaftsgefühl from an <strong>Adler</strong>ian point <strong>of</strong> view.<br />

Students will explore interventions with these populations (i.e. children,<br />

adolescents, young adults, and the elderly) and macro interventions possible as<br />

socially responsible clinicians.<br />

569 Life Style and Career Development 3 Credits<br />

Prerequisite: 472. This course will examine a person's career trajectory and<br />

dynamics within the context <strong>of</strong> the life style. Students will learn to assess career<br />

interests, aptitudes, and options. These will be explored as individual and<br />

collective sources <strong>of</strong> work information. Understanding how these are embedded<br />

within the life style will allow students to help clients with career decisions and<br />

transitions in the broader perspective <strong>of</strong> total personal development.<br />

571 Foundations in Counseling 3 Credits<br />

and Organizational Consulting<br />

This course introduces students to the field <strong>of</strong> consulting psychology. Attention<br />

is paid to clinical applications and corporate practices as well as the integration<br />

<strong>of</strong> the two. Societies, organizations, and pr<strong>of</strong>essional groups are explored as<br />

sources for pr<strong>of</strong>essional exposure and development.<br />

574 Principles <strong>of</strong> Industrial/Organizational <strong>Psychology</strong> 3 Credits<br />

This course covers organizational management with respect to human behavior<br />

in the workplace. Current developments in the behavior sciences as they apply<br />

to the business organization are stressed. Concepts emphasized in the course<br />

include individual and group dynamics, motivation, leadership, ethics, power,<br />

conflict resolution, decision-making, and stress management.<br />

575 Executive Coaching/Consulting 3 Credits<br />

and Leadership Development<br />

This course addresses the principles <strong>of</strong> identifying and developing leadership<br />

potential. Both the pr<strong>of</strong>essional and technical aspects <strong>of</strong> personality assessment<br />

and career development are examined as well as organizational issues <strong>of</strong><br />

competency modeling succession planning.<br />

580 Organizational Theory and Change Management 3 Credits<br />

This course presents an analytical, in-depth study <strong>of</strong> key macro- and mid-level<br />

organizational theories <strong>of</strong> structure and design, technology, environmental<br />

adaptation, and managerial functions and controls.<br />
