A description <strong>of</strong> regularly <strong>of</strong>fered courses appears on the following pages.<br />
The <strong>Adler</strong> <strong>School</strong> reserves the rights to withdraw, modify, or add to the courses<br />
it <strong>of</strong>fers at any time. Course <strong>of</strong>ferings are continually under examination, and<br />
revisions are to be expected from time to time.<br />
COURSE DESCRIPTIONS<br />
001 Student Orientation 0 Credits<br />
This mandatory orientation for new students provides an overview <strong>of</strong> <strong>Adler</strong><br />
<strong>School</strong> policies and procedures, facilities, personnel, resources, and<br />
organizations. The training model and core competency areas <strong>of</strong> degree<br />
programs are explained. Newly admitted students are expected to attend this<br />
orientation prior to enrollment. M.A. students who go on to the doctorate must<br />
participate in the orientation.<br />
020 Basic Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Writing 0 Credits<br />
This course is designed to evaluate students’ baseline writing skills and<br />
organizational ability, to support and develop writing strengths, and to<br />
provide the student with tools to increase the clarity and pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism <strong>of</strong> his<br />
or her writing.<br />
021 Intermediate Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Writing 0 Credits<br />
This intermediate level course goes beyond basic skills in assessing students’<br />
writing abilities, and helps students develop better understanding <strong>of</strong> and<br />
greater facility with the use <strong>of</strong> conceptual elements and structures that<br />
comprise effective writing in a variety <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional applications.<br />
030 Advanced General <strong>Psychology</strong> 0 Credits<br />
This non-credit graduate course reviews major psychological theories and<br />
research. Subject matter presented in this course is prerequisite for admission<br />
into all degree and certificate programs. Students may use this course to fulfill<br />
the undergraduate requirement.<br />
040 Advanced Abnormal <strong>Psychology</strong> 0 Credits<br />
This non-credit graduate course covers the development, symptoms, and<br />
patterns <strong>of</strong> maladaptive behavior. Topics covered include the onset and<br />
progression <strong>of</strong> developmental and psychological disorders. Students<br />
are introduced to current DSM categorization and classification <strong>of</strong> psychological<br />
phenomena. Students may use this course to fulfill the undergraduate<br />
requirement.<br />
