EE454 Statics<br />

One trimester<br />

Credit: One unit core elective credit.<br />

Prerequisite: MA412 AP Calculus AB (Advanced Topics II) <strong>and</strong> PH355a Physics<br />

with Advanced Topics or PH404 AP Physics C: Mechanics (I), <strong>and</strong> permission <strong>of</strong><br />

the Academic Programs Office.<br />

Meeting pattern: Four periods per week.<br />

In this course, students explore the principles <strong>of</strong> dynamics <strong>of</strong> particles <strong>and</strong> rigid<br />

bodies, as well as mechanics including force systems, equilibrium structures,<br />

distributed forces, centroids, <strong>and</strong> friction. Students also perform kinematic <strong>and</strong><br />

kinetic analysis <strong>of</strong> structural <strong>and</strong> machine elements in a plane <strong>and</strong> in space in<br />

addition to absolute <strong>and</strong> relative motion analysis.<br />
