MU314, MU316, MU318 Wind Ensemble<br />
One trimester each<br />
Credit: One unit each additional elective credit.<br />
Prerequisite: Previous musical experience on woodwind, brass, or percussion<br />
instruments.<br />
Meeting pattern: Two periods per week including lab plus one 100-minute<br />
evening class meeting. Some scheduled weekend rehearsals <strong>and</strong> weekend<br />
concerts.<br />
Wind Ensemble is an advanced wind b<strong>and</strong> with an emphasis on both wind<br />
b<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> wind chamber music literature. Concepts emphasized include tone<br />
production, ensemble intonation, performance technique, <strong>and</strong> musical<br />
interpretation. Students interested in symphony orchestra literature are selected<br />
by audition to rehearse <strong>and</strong> perform with the <strong>NCSSM</strong> Orchestra on a regular<br />
basis. Interested students are encouraged to register for all three trimesters <strong>of</strong><br />
this course. Repeatable for credit.<br />
MU320 Pep B<strong>and</strong><br />
One trimester<br />
Credit: One unit additional elective credit.<br />
Prerequisite: Previous experience in b<strong>and</strong> or instrumental music.<br />
Meeting pattern: One 100-minute evening class per week <strong>and</strong> home basketball<br />
games.<br />
Pep B<strong>and</strong> includes the study <strong>and</strong> performance <strong>of</strong> pep b<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> marching<br />
b<strong>and</strong> music. Students have performance opportunities as a pep b<strong>and</strong> at home<br />
basketball games. Student leaders receive instruction <strong>and</strong> experience in<br />
rehearsal <strong>and</strong> conducting techniques. Students also have opportunities to<br />
arrange music for the Pep B<strong>and</strong>. Repeatable for credit.<br />
MU332, MU334, MU336 Orchestra<br />
One trimester each<br />
Credit: One unit each additional elective credit.<br />

The <strong>NCSSM</strong> Orchestra is a string orchestra with an emphasis on masterpieces <strong>of</strong><br />
