This course provides in-depth coverage <strong>of</strong> United States history from the colonial<br />

era to the present. This class is a supplement to the American Studies course <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong>fers an intense preparation for the AP United States History exam. This is a<br />

blended-instruction course that meets one period each week <strong>and</strong> includes<br />

significant web-based content <strong>and</strong> out-<strong>of</strong>-class assignments. Emphasis is on<br />

developing <strong>and</strong> enhancing analytical, writing, <strong>and</strong> rhetorical skills through the<br />

use <strong>of</strong> document-based questions (DBQs), free-response essays, <strong>and</strong> frequent<br />

objective/analytical test questions. Students analyze <strong>and</strong> critically review<br />

primary <strong>and</strong> secondary source materials.<br />

SS422 AP United States History (II)<br />

One trimester<br />

Credit: One unit additional elective credit.<br />

Prerequisite: B or higher grade in SS420 AP United States History (I).<br />

Meeting pattern: One period per week or one 50-minute evening class<br />

meeting.<br />

This course continues the intense preparation for the AP United States History<br />

exam begun in SS420 AP United States History (I). This is a blended-instruction<br />

course that meets one period each week <strong>and</strong> includes significant web-based<br />

content <strong>and</strong> out-<strong>of</strong>-class assignments. Emphasis is on developing <strong>and</strong><br />

enhancing analytical, writing, <strong>and</strong> rhetorical skills through the use <strong>of</strong> documentbased<br />

questions (DBQs), free-response essays, <strong>and</strong> frequent objective/analytical<br />
