The Midwest Horse Fair ® ,<br />
one <strong>of</strong> the nation’s top<br />
three-day equestrian<br />
events, will be held April 16-18,<br />
<strong>2010</strong> at the Alliant Energy<br />
Center in Madison. Begun in<br />
1979, the fair celebrates its 31st<br />
year as a leader in equine education<br />
and entertainment in<br />
<strong>2010</strong>.<br />
Every year the Midwest<br />
Horse Fair ® gets bigger & better,<br />
and <strong>2010</strong> will be no exception.<br />
On Friday evening, the thrills<br />
and spills <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional rodeo<br />
come to the fair with a performance<br />
by the stars <strong>of</strong> the Barnes<br />
DON ABRAMS<br />
PRCA Rodeo. Crowds will cheer<br />
the nation’s top competitors in<br />
saddle bronc riding, bareback<br />
riding, bull riding, tie down roping,<br />
steer wrestling, team roping<br />
and barrel racing. Other performance-oriented<br />
shows<br />
include the speed and power <strong>of</strong><br />
Grand Prix Show Jumping held<br />
Saturday evening, and the exciting<br />
North American Wind Rider<br />
Grand Champion Showdown,<br />
set for Sunday afternoon.<br />
Whether you’re a horseless<br />
horse lover, new horse owner, or<br />
seasoned pr<strong>of</strong>essional, there’ll<br />
be something that you’ll enjoy<br />
at the Midwest Horse Fair ® .<br />
Non-horse owners, families and<br />
children can meet the horses up<br />
close by touring the show’s eight<br />
different barns. To help make<br />
future breeding decisions, mare<br />
owners have the opportunity to<br />
view stallions <strong>of</strong> all different<br />
breeds from around the Midwest<br />
in Stallion Avenue.<br />
Many different breeds <strong>of</strong><br />
horses are represented during<br />
the breed demonstrations in the<br />
Coliseum. Hundreds <strong>of</strong> clinics,<br />
seminars and educational events<br />
are presented by some <strong>of</strong> the<br />
top horse pr<strong>of</strong>essionals from<br />
around the country. Clinic headliners<br />
for <strong>2010</strong> will include Ruben<br />
Villasenor, an expert in the use<br />
<strong>of</strong> the bosal and its mechanics,<br />
and Tommy Garland, America’s<br />
Champion Horseman.<br />
Additionally, more than 500 vendor<br />
booths in the trade show<br />
area <strong>of</strong>fer shopping opportunities<br />
for every horse lover.<br />
The Midwest Horse Fair ® is<br />
owned by the <strong>Wisconsin</strong> State<br />
Horse Council, Inc. All proceeds<br />
from the Fair are returned to the<br />
WSHC and are used to represent<br />
and foster a unified equine<br />
industry in <strong>Wisconsin</strong>, promote<br />
the equine industry through<br />
leadership, education, service<br />
and communication, and to take<br />
a proactive role in the future<br />
growth and development <strong>of</strong> the<br />
equine industry.<br />
