2010 ARMY ARTS AND CRAFTS CONTEST<br />
Every year the Army offers an annual Arts and Crafts contest that gives<br />
artists and crafters the opportunity to compete against contestants from<br />
around the world. The contest is a juried competition of two and three<br />
dimensional artwork for novice and accomplished artists. Artwork may be<br />
entered in one of the following categories: Ceramics, drawings, wood<br />
prints, fibers and textiles, water base painting, metals and jewelry and<br />
two- and three-dimensional mixed media. Eligible patrons may submit<br />
three works per category at the garrison level. Awards will be given to first,<br />
second and third place and up to two honorable mentions for each<br />
category and group of the contest. The entry form profile is at<br />

Morale, Welfare and Recreation, with the exception of employees of the<br />

Blaze a new trail to a healthier you! Meet at the Engineer Trail, every<br />
Saturday beginning at 8:15am. Cost is $2 per class or you may use your<br />
aerobic class pass to pay for each session. Come and walk, or switch it up<br />
with a group-led interval workout. Moms with strollers or dog walkers are<br />
welcome. Your progress will be tracked each week.<br />

RECORDER KARATE WORKSHOP<br />
SKIES Recorder Karate workshop is in session. Class meets every<br />
Tuesdays from 1-2:30pm at the Audie Murphy‟s Community Center.<br />
Workshop offers youths to experience an exciting ensemble of recording<br />
playing and the chance to earn color sash for every step accomplished.<br />
Youth‟s will also learn beginning keyboard and musical fundamental<br />
instructions in order to enhance music reading skills to provide life-long<br />

The Child, Youth, & School Services EDGE program begins. The EDGE<br />
Program is open and FREE to registered youths in grades 6-12.<br />
For programs outside the Pippin Youth Center, a shuttle will be provided.<br />

EDGE Programs:<br />
Life EDGE – Youth will have the opportunity to learn to make simple and<br />
healthy snacks and treats. Youth will meet every Monday from 3:30pm-<br />
5pm at the Pershing Community Center.<br />
Fit EDGE – Youth will learn the basics of mini golf. Youth will meet<br />
Tuesday from 3:30-5pm at the Rec Plex. Shuttle will leave the Pippin<br />
Youth Center at 3:20pm and return to Pippin Youth Center at 5:30pm.<br />
Fit EDGE –Thursdays youth will meet at the Piney Valley Golf Course from<br />
3:30-5pm to learn to golf. Shuttle will depart from the Pippin Youth Center<br />
3:20pm and return to the Youth Center at 5:30pm.<br />
Adventure EDGE –Fridays youth will meet at the Outdoor Adventure<br />
Center from 3:30-5pm for trap shooting. Youth will learn the basics and<br />
history of trap shooting. Shuttle will depart from Pippin Youth Center at<br />
3:20pm. Parents must sign a waiver at the time of enrollment.<br />

GRIPS & SPIKES<br />
Before the season gets underway, the Piney Valley Golf Course is offering<br />
a special on golf club re-gripping and golf shoe soft spike replacement.<br />
During May, all you pay for is the purchase of grips and spikes (must be<br />
purchased at the PVGC) and replacement is free (regular price $2).<br />

PACKAGE (for Grades 1-5)<br />
The EDGE Program is offering packages for school age youths in Grades<br />
1-5. Cost for package is $60. Youths will meet on Tuesdays for canoe<br />
basics and on Fridays for paintball basics from 2-4:30pm at the Outdoor<br />
Adventure Center. Parents must sign a paintball waiver at the time of<br />
registering. There are only 12 slots for this package so hurry and sign up<br />

REGISTRATION FOR JUNE EDGE PROGRAM<br />
CYS Services has partnered up with other <strong>MWR</strong> facilities to bring the<br />
youth of the <strong>Fort</strong> <strong>Leonard</strong> <strong>Wood</strong> community the EDGE Program. This<br />
monthly program offers after school opportunities for youth‟s to<br />
Experience, Develop, Grow and Excel by participating in cutting-edge<br />
activities. Participants must be registered with CYS Services. For all<br />
programs out of Pippin Youth Center youth‟s will be transported by<br />
shuttle to location. Space availability is limited. FREE & open to<br />

Life EDGE! – Youths will learn the basic of maintaining a car. Experts<br />
from the Auto Craft Shop will teach youth‟s how the proper way to<br />
change the oil, repair/change tire, roadside emergency, and more.<br />
Youths will meet every Thursday from 3-5pm. This is a hands on class,<br />
so be ready to get dirty and wear proper clothing. Limited to 10 slots.<br />
Life EDGE! - Want to learn to plan a special event? Youths will have the<br />
opportunity to work with the staff of <strong>MWR</strong> Special <strong>Events</strong> to help<br />
coordinate activities for the teen„s tent on 4 th of July. Youths will meet<br />
every Wednesday from 3:30-4:30pm beginning May-July at the Pippin<br />
Youth Center. Limited to 15 slots.<br />
Fit EDGE! – The EDGE program is partnering up with Davidson Fitness<br />
Center for a Junior Boot Camp which will consist of Cross Fit, Jujitsu, &<br />
Zumba. Youths will meet every Wednesday from 3-4:30pm.<br />
Limited to 15 slots.<br />
Adventure EDGE – Youth will have the opportunity to learn the basics of<br />
canoeing on Tuesday and paintball on Friday from 2-4:30pm. All<br />

School Age Services will be hosting a weekly theme based summer camp<br />
program for youths currently enrolled in 1st thru 5 th grade. Weekly<br />
activities include horse back riding, theater, exploring Missouri, crafts and<br />
field trips. Parents can pick and choose the weeks they want their child to<br />
attend. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided. No additional charge<br />
for field trips. Fees are charged weekly and are based on total family<br />

Davidson Fitness Center is hosting a 2010 Hellbender criterion starting<br />
9am. Test your technical abilities in the upcoming bicycle road race.<br />
Hellbender bicycle race is a closed course, a 1.4 mile clockwise loop;<br />
generally flat to rolling with a few areas with slight elevation that is<br />
located on the Missouri S&T Tech Park location on 197 Replacement<br />
Avenue. Race is categorized by skill. Cost is $35. Race is open to the<br />
