2010-2012 

SHRI RAVINDRA PAL SHARMA 

NATIONAL PRESIDENT 

Born: 8th July, 1938. Graduated as an Engineer in 

Telecommunications and did his post graduation in Business 

Administration. Joined the Department of Telephones as 

ADET and retired in 1998 as Director, Telecom (Govt. of 

India). Nation wide PCO facility could become possible by 

his sincere efforts and farsightedness. 

Joined Bharat Vikas Parishad Parivar in 1984 and 

worked as Organising Secretary - Maharashtra State for five years. He 

was also All India Additional Secretary General. From 2000 to 2004 he 

worked as National Secretary General as a whole timer. He remained 

National Working President continuously for four years thereafter. 

Elevated to the office of President from April 2008. 

His methodical way of working speaks volumes. 

SHRI ISHWAR DATT OJHA 

NATIONAL WORKING PRESIDENT 

Born on 25 th June, 1940, had schooling at Samrala 

(Punjab). Thereafter, studied at Anglo-Sanskrit P.G.College, 

Khanna (Punjab). Took active part in extra-curricular activities 

& sports throughout, winning several prizes.Retired as 

Under-Secretary from the University Grants Commission, 

New Delhi. Widely travelled he possesses a rich experience 

of various cultures of Indian and Foreign soils. 

Joined the Parishad in the year 1983 as Founder Secretary, 

Janakpuri Branch, New Delhi. Worked in various capacities at Delhi State 

level including three terms as its General Secretary. During 2000-02 and 

again 2002-04 was assigned the responsibility of National Secretary 

(Sanskar Projects) and National Addl. Secretary General respectively. 

During 2004-08 served the organisation as its National Secretary General 

as a full-timer for the Parishad. 

Message: By God’s grace and with good wishes of you all, I have 

again accepted the responsibility of National Working President with all 

humility and with a firm belief that I shall be receiving full co-operation 

and guidance from you all in furthering the cause of this great organisation.

DR. K.L. GUPTA 

NATIONAL FINANCE SECRETARY 

Born on Dec. 25 th 1948, he had a brilliant 

academic career and topped Agra University in B.Com, 

M.com. and M.A. (Eco.). He was awarded the Degree of 

Ph.D. in Commerce in 1978 and D. Litt in Business 

Administration in 1993. He has taught Degree and P.G. 

Classes in Commerce and Management for 43 years. He 

has also worked as Principal of S.V. College, Aligarh and 

Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Agra University. He has 

authored about 30 books and 26 research scholars have obtained Degree 

of Ph.D. under his supervision. 

He has served BVP Braj Pradesh as its Treasurer, General 

Secretary and President. At Central level he has also held the offices of 

National Secretary (Permanent Projects) and National Additional Secretary 

General (Sampark Karya ).

MEETING OF THE NATIONAL GOVERNING BOARD: 

FEBRUARY, 2010 

National Governing Board of Bharat Vikas Parishad held its annual 

meeting at Gwalior on the 20th and 21st February, 2010. It was attended 

by 184 members. 

The meeting was presided over by Shri R.P. Sharma, National 

President who made the introductory remarks and also delivered the 

Presidential Address on the concluding session of the meeting. He 

declared that in the next year, Parishad will endeavour to significantly 

increase the participation of women and youth in the organisation. To 

this end, lot more programmes will be taken for their involvement. 

Swami Madhav Prapannacharya graced the occasion as the Chief 

Guest. He was the main speaker in the inauguration session. In a very 

inspiring discourse, he defined the true meaning of Parishad's core values 

of Sampark, Sahayog, Sanskar, Sewa, and Samparpan and explained 

how these are remarkably interwoven. He emphasised the need to involve 

youth in Parishad’s work and in this context he suggested the need to 

institute a Yuva Award. He said that the fact that the Parishad had invited 

him - a young sanyasi whose age may be less than half of many of the 

delegates - showed the direction in which BVP wished to go. 

In the concluding session there was a thought provoking address 

by Shri Bhagaiyaji, All-India Boudhik Pramuk of RSS. He felt that the 

aim of Parishad is all round development of body, mind and intellect of 

each citizen of the country. For this we all have to work together. If bad 

guys are united to play havoc in the society, the good people also need 

to get united. Sampark leads to discipline in the society as we look for 

divinity in each person. From here we move to help i.e. Sahayog, but the 

help we provide should not be one time help but a continuous one. 

Shri Bhagaiyaji said that he was glad that the Parishad was engaged 

in bringing together enlightened elite of the society in service of the 

nation. He said that for smooth functioning of the organisation from Branch 

to Centre, one must first get ‘selected ’ before he is ‘elected’. There were 

1.18 lakh registered societies in the country. However, very few of them 

were functioning in an organised and systematic manner. 

Following were the highlights of other items taken up in the meeting: 

● The minutes of the last meeting of the NGB held on 14-15th February, 

2009 at Hyderabad were presented and confirmed. 

● Five new Vikas Ratna present was felicitated. 

● Shri Varinder Sabharwal, National Secretary General, presented his 

report of activities for the year 2008-09 which was approved by the

Shri Harish Jindal, National Finance Secretary, presented the Audited 

Accounts for 2008-09 which were approved. 

Shri O.P. Kanoongo, National Auditor General & Controller of

Prantiya General Secretaries presented reports on their activities 

during the year 2009-10. 

Shri Varinder Sabharwal presented the minutes of the Apex Body 

held during the 2009-10 which were approved. 

Shri Satish Chandra, National Secretary, Legal & Disciplinary Matters, 

presented the proposed constitutional amendments which were 

approved. 

There was a session for Muktchintan in which Shri R.P. Sharma, 

National President responded to the queries of the members with a 

touch of humour. 

The meeting unanimously elected four National Office Bearers for 

the years 2010-12: (a) National President. Shri Ravindra Pal Sharma, 

(b) National Working President - Shri Ishwar Datt Ojha, (c) National 

Secretary General - Shri Surinder Kumar Wadhwa, and (d) National 

Finance Secretary - Dr. Kanhaiya Lal Gupta. 

Shri I.D. Ojha, National Working President, summed up the entire 

proceedings. Shri Harish Jindal, National Finance Secretary, 

presented the vote of thanks to the Madhya Bharat East Prant for 

the excellent arrangements made by them for the meeting. From the 

Host Prant, Shri G.D. Ladha, Prantiya President replied to the vote 

of thanks. 

A UNIQUE EXAMPLE OF BROTHERHOOD 

Jaipur, Rajasthan North-East : On a severe cold winter day 

recently, a message was received from some well wisher of mentally 

retarded persons that the inmates of mentally retarded women and 

children welfare and rehabilitation centre, situated in Sethi colony, 

Jaipur are in urgent need of woollens to protect them from the severe 

cold. Secretary and President of Bhagat Singh branch lost no time 

and immediately purchased blankets from the market and donated 

the same to the centre within a few hours of receipt of the message. 

Funds were subsequently raised from donations by the members. 

Incharge of the centre was assured further help in future also. 

Initiative was appreciated by all.

B Block Janakpuri : Branch organised the following in January 

2010 : Heart check-up camp on 10.01.2010 in collaboration with Bala 

Jee Action Institute. A team of twenty doctors and other supporting staff 

of the Institute managed the camp making it a very impressive event. 

Four Dental camps were arranged during the month benefiting 60 Dental 

& 11 De-addiction cases. A Yuva Yoga Shivir was organised on 2.01.2010. 

C-2 Janakpuri : Two dental camps were organized during the month 

in which about 60 persons got their dental problems solved. We spent 

Rs. 1000/- on these camps. 

Adampur Doaba Jalandhar, Punjab North : Now a days Swine 

flue is spreading and proving fotal in the world. This branch brought 

awarnes of this flue, Symtoms and precautions to be observed to control 

the spread of this flue. For this awarenes in public this branch distributed 

3000 pamphlets through news papers and public places like railway 

station, bus stands, Holy places and post office etc. 

Malerkotla, Punjab East : Branch organised medical check up 

camps for gaeyne diseases and children diseases. A team of senior 

Doctors of C.M.C. Hospital Ludhiana examined 150 patients. Free 

medicines were provided to patients. Mohammad Obais Chairman Kausar 

Welfare Trust sponsored this camp. Sh. P.D. Gupta XEN (Retd.) was the 

chief guest and Sh. Parveen Sood. chief manager SBOP presided over 

the function. Mrs. Suman Bhateja and Mrs. Seema Jindal provided their 

services as conveners of the camp.

A new project of Sampark 

& Sahayog with Himveer Wives 

Welfare Association (HWWA), 

Indo Tibetan Border Police 

(ITBP), Po Baddowal, Ludhiana 

has been initiated for taking up 

the programmes of public health 

and social service in future. 

Preference will be given to rural 

areas in the vicinity of ITBP 

camps. 

The first common function 

was held on the Raising day of 

HWWA on January 24, 2010 at 

the campus of the 26th bn ITBP 

Force, (mid-way to Mullanpur on 

Ldh. Ferozepur road, Ludhiana). 

It is through the the efforts of our 

branch that the students of the 

school for DEAF children, 

Habowal Kalan, Ludhiana 

presented a cultural programme 

in this function. Twenty students 

(14 girls and 6 boys), three 

teachers and 16 members of our 

branch attended the function. The 

families of the HWWA (Children, 

ladies and gents) also presented 

a nice cultural programme. In his 

address, Sh. O.P. Yadav, 

Commandant and Mrs. Sangeeta 

Yadav, president of HWWA 

assured that their organization 

will be ever willing to extend full 

cooperation in the projects of 

public welfare in near future. 

HARYANA NORTH

A Block Janakpuri : 

During the month of Dec. 2009 

four Bal Sanskar Child 

Personality Development camps 

were organized in wich 228 

children of 10-14 age group 

participated. The participants 

underwent a rigorous physical and 

mental training. Two dental camps 

were held in the adopted Sewa 

Basti. 25 patients were benefitted. 

120 blankets were distributed 

among the helpless, homeless, 

shelter less people having sky on 

their heads and small fire by their 

side as the only protection in this

was held on 24th January at 

Parishad Bhawan in which 110

solemnizing her marriage in an

School to be used by the children 

for seating them in their functions 

being held in the open ground. The 

branch is regularly donating Rs. 

500 per month for the last two 

years to Disha Centre at Chander 

Nagar, Janakpuri School of 

mentally retarded children. A talk 

by Raj Jyotshi Shri H.K. Sharma 

was delivered on genesis and 

efficacy of Mantras. He stressed 

that these Mantras are really very 

effective if recited with 

unflinching and unshkable faith in 

them. 

Help in kind in the form of 

grocery, provisions and other 

necessary items for the marriage 

were given to a poor and needy 

girl of JJ colony, Uttam Nagar, 

Delhi to enable her to solemnize 

her marriage in a befitting manner. 

A sum of Rs. 10,000/- (Ten 

Thousand only) was directly 

sent to AIIMS, Delhi for 

treatment of master Dilshad

B-Block Janakpuri : The 

branch organized a function on 

07.02.2010 for motivating the 

members regarding noble cause 

of Vanvasi Sahayata undertaken 

by Parishad. The branch is 

making its humble contribution of 

Rs. 75000/- every year. In addition 

the branch is also contributing Rs. 

50000/- for Sewa Dham, a 

residential school run by Sewa 

Bharati for Tribal students of 

twenty three states, thus the total 

contribution for the noble cause

Anand Vardhan Shukla, IPS was 

the chief guest who first unfurled 

the National flag amongst 

chanting of Jan Gan Man. In his 

illuminating talk he said that 

though India has progressed to a 

considerble height during these 

sixty years, it can be counted as 

the top developed country if we 

cultivate 'work culture'. He 

informed that he has visited 55 

countries and in places like 

France, everyone is concerned 

about his job and duties and will 

religiously stick to his/her work 

for eight hours a day in all 

circumstances and will not look 

for anything els. On Saturdays 

and Sundays the employees 

enjoy holidays but 5 days work 

culture is a must. Here in India ,

and even they will do a little. He 

quoted many other experiences 

as well. About China, he said, 

they plan and do things and not 

bother about difficulties in the 

way. They sort out problems and

signals are available inside the 

engine itself but because India 

lacks proper infrastructure, our 

trains run on whether conditions.

Republic day on 26th January

Bhawan.' Certificates, pen etc., 

as a token of love, were provided 

to the NSS volunteers of

assistance successfully in our 

pulse polio immunization 

programme 2010. A Trophy and a 

certificate was also provided to 

the incharge of the NSS unit. The 

Parishad also distributed 300

Navi Mumbai : Branch 

organized their annual picnic on 


NITI 

7th Feb. 2010 at Deharang, an 

interior village situated near 

Matheran. On the way all the 40 

members visited chinchavali 

near panvel where Vanvasi 

Kalyan Ashram is running 

Ashramshala. 

This ashram houses 32 

children and all are attending 

school in the nearby area. The 

children from Ashram presented 

^,dkRerk Lrks=k& & patriotic songs. 

They also performed a small skit 

based on the life of Shivaji. Shri. 

Pradip Patil administrator of this 

Ashram gave all the details of the 

Ashram. He informed that two 

students are attending college 

and other passed out graduates 

are holding respectable jobs. 

The branch donated Rs. 

1500/- to the Ashram. However 

the members also on their own 

donated individually which came 

to Rs. 9500/-. Shri Mohan Bapat 

runs an Ashram at Deharang 

known as "Satkaram 

Shradhashashray". He admits 

only that number of (Vanvasi) 

children whom he can guide 

personally in their studies. Various 

projects are undertaken by the 

trust in this premises. Basically 

the idea is that the child who 

comes for shelter here should be 

able to earn for his living. They 

are taught various skills like 

sewing, getting familiar with 

computers, traditional skills like 

collecting honey, extracting 

essence from "ajwain" Aloevera, 

making capsules & toilet soaps 

from "Gomutra". These products 


are put on sale. Our members 

gave good response to all these 

products by buying them. The 

amazing thing is that Ashram 

owns 16-17 Cows. Cow milk is 

given to the boys & out of surplus 

milk they make ghee which is 

very useful for medicinal purpose. 

In short the whole project 

was very interesting to watch for 

an urban dweller. The trust also 

runs a dispensary. Every Sunday 

Dr. Sudhale comes at this place 

with his team of workers. After 

checking the patient his file is 

made and preserved for reference 

in future. Accordingly medicine is 

given for a week at a minimal 

cost. BVP Navi Mumbai & 

members donated Rs. 3000/- to 

the Ashram at Deharang. 

GUJARAT NORTH 

Patan : Mahila wing of the 

Branch took part in the Marriage 

Song competition held at Deesa 

Centre, organised by ladies. 

Patan branch won the third 

position in this competition & took
