September 2004
Dear Bay Area Jewish Day School Supporter:
The Jewish Day School Funders’ Consortium has developed a marketing campaign
to raise awareness of the Jewish Day School movement in the San Francisco Bay
Area, and would like to offer you the opportunity to become one of the campaign’s
major sponsors.
The Consortium was formed in the summer of 2002. Nominated by their schools,
the Consortium’s members are major supporters of Bay Area Jewish Day Schools
who have come together to “promote the Jewish Day School movement as integral
to a thriving Bay Area Jewish Community, as well as a necessary component in
ensuring the continuity of our Jewish heritage” (Mission of the Consortium).
Consortium and Day Schools Join Together to Create a Marketing Program
The project is a joint initiative involving the Consortium and 10 Jewish Day Schools
in 3 Bay Area Federation regions: the East Bay, the San Francisco region (which
includes Marin County and the Peninsula) and the greater San Jose area. They
include elementary, K-8 th and high schools, community schools, modern orthodox
and Schechter schools. Cost to each school is minimal ($500). This umbrella
campaign promotes Jewish Day Schools as a movement. Each school will still
continue to promote as necessary.
Ad Campaign in Parent Publications, Website, Flyers and Posters
Specifically, the campaign will consist of several full page ads in targeted
publications. The program also includes the development of a website, and a toll
free phone information service as well as the development and distribution of high
quality flyers and posters to Jewish Community Centers, synagogues, bookstores
and other businesses. The website will list all the schools and their locations, phone
numbers and websites as well as additional relevant information.
Currently there are approximately 2,500 children enrolled in Jewish Day Schools in
the Bay Area. There is much room for growth. Our mission is to have all Jewish
parents of school age children seriously consider a Jewish Day School education for

their child(ren). Jewish education is what has and will continue to keep Judaism
alive. Day school education for as many children as possible is what will be the key
to Jewish continuity. Please be a part of this legacy and become a sponsor to
this first ever Bay Area Jewish Day School Awareness Marketing Campaign.
How Much Are We Asking For?
If you write a check by 10/1/04 we can include your name/foundation on 100
posters – featuring our ad – that will be placed in Jewish organizations throughout
the Bay Area. Our challenge is to raise $100K.
Thank you for your generous consideration of our request to become a sponsor of
the Campaign. Please fill out the attached Sponsorship Form as well as review
copies of our ad campaign and marketing presentation. We will follow up with a
phone call next week to answer any questions you might have.
