Basic <strong>Information</strong><br />
• <strong>EOCT</strong> st<strong>and</strong>s for End-of<br />
of- Course-Test.<br />
• The <strong>EOCT</strong> for 9th Grade Literature <strong>and</strong><br />
Composition is given over two days.<br />
• The days for testing are Wednesday,<br />
December 5 <strong>and</strong> Thursday, December<br />
6.<br />
• Each section of the test has 40<br />
questions.
Basic <strong>Information</strong><br />
• Each section takes 45 – 60 minutes to<br />
complete.<br />
• All of the questions are multiple choice.<br />
• There are four domains covered on the<br />
test: Reading <strong>and</strong> Literature; Reading,<br />
Speaking, Listening, <strong>and</strong> Viewing<br />
Across the Curriculum; Writing;<br />
Conventions of Written Language.
Basic <strong>Information</strong><br />
• With very few exceptions, the test is<br />
taken in your class.<br />
• An <strong>EOCT</strong> is worth 15% of your total<br />
grade for the course while your grades<br />
for the class are worth the other 85%.<br />
• Everyone takes the <strong>EOCT</strong> no matter<br />
his or her average in class.<br />
• The passing score on the test is a 70.

• There is a direct correlation between<br />
passes <strong>EOCT</strong>s <strong>and</strong> passing<br />
graduation tests.

• The “Before the Test” strategies can be<br />
reviewed a day or so before the test.

• Keep a positive attitude. Don’t t get frustrated.<br />
Get back on track <strong>and</strong> keep trying.<br />
• Decide if you want to do the reading passages<br />
first or last.<br />
• If you choose to do the passages first or as they<br />
come in the test, be sure to budget your time,<br />
especially if you are reading slowly.<br />
• If you choose to do the passages last, be sure that<br />
when you record your answer, you are on the<br />
correct number.
