Installation and Upgrade Instructions
The upgrade procedure has changed from previous releases. Existing customers are encouraged to review
the Performing an Upgrade section of the Installation Guide, which is available from the Borland
Documentation Web site at http://techpubs.borland.com/caliber.
CaliberRM Server
If the database contains a large number of traces, the server database size might grow noticeably during the
upgrade.This growth is due to the introduction of traceability versioning in this release. If you have unnecessary
traces that are either created manually or copied and pasted from a previous requirement, it is recommended
that you remove them before upgrading. For more information, contact support or visit Borland Answers at

If your existing SDK application must connect to a server that is not yet upgraded to this release, do not
recompile your application with the included SDK. In general, when writing SDK applications, use the same
version of the SDK as the version of the oldest server to which the application must connect.You must recompile
your .NET/COM SDK applications to make use of the new SDK functionality provided in this release, such as
creating and assigning security profiles.The recompiled application is compatible with this release of the server.
To restore a backup made with a previous version of CaliberRM, first upgrade the backup to 2008.
CaliberRM Windows Client
Installation instructions for the CaliberRM Windows Client depend on whether the client is installed on a machine
that is different from the server. For more information, refer to the Installation Guide.
