the Visiting Artist, Visiting Pr<strong>of</strong>essor and Teaching Firm in Residence <strong>Program</strong>s that have brought<br />

notable artists, architects and practitioners <strong>of</strong> greater diversity to the School for one semester<br />

appointments since 2007.<br />

the Global Fellows Teaching <strong>Program</strong> begun in 2011 to engage notable faculty anywhere to<br />

teach from remote locations.<br />

Adjunct Faculty recruitment engaging a readily available pool <strong>of</strong> candidates <strong>of</strong> greater diversity<br />

than our current full time faculty representation<br />

SAAHP Public Events Series—lectures, exhibitions and conferences inviting noted speakers and<br />

participants to address key issues, people and works <strong>of</strong> the day<br />

Measures: review record <strong>of</strong> diverse Visiting, Teaching Firm, Global Fellows, Adjunct Faculty, Public<br />

Events speakers/exhibitors engaged. Review surveys <strong>of</strong> student, faculty and staff responses to these<br />

programs toward increasing diversity<br />

4. Actively engage diversity considerations in full time faculty searches<br />

Measures: record <strong>of</strong> outreach to diverse candidate forums, venues, applicants, interviews, hires.<br />

Goal 3: Engage faculty, students and staff in coursework and planning that furthers our learning<br />

cultures <strong>of</strong> varied experiences embracing different learning formats, and curricular content<br />

engaging diverse groups and cultures<br />

1. Continue to evolve teaching formats including lecture/recitations, increased site visits to projects,<br />

direct experiences with materials.<br />

2. Prioritize the development <strong>of</strong> courses, programs and learning opportunities that achieve learning<br />

outcomes demonstrating achievement <strong>of</strong> understandings and abilities involving diverse and global<br />

cultures.<br />

Coursework involving World Arts, Community Planning, varied architectural cultures around the<br />

world<br />

Graduate <strong>Program</strong>s involving affordable low residency or online components<br />

Study Abroad programs particularly those engaging non-European cultures<br />

Re-convene the RWU International Fellows Summer <strong>Program</strong>, Summer 2012, dormant since<br />

2009<br />

Host the Environmental Design Research Associate (EDRA) Conference, Spring 2013<br />

Develop Honors and Awards recognizing diverse and global contributions to the school in<br />

curricular and co-curricular activities<br />

Measures: review course coverage engaging diverse and global cultures in all teaching formats;<br />

creation <strong>of</strong> Honors and Awards recognizing these efforts<br />

3. Increase multi-cultural abilities among faculty and staff on a routine basis<br />

In concert with the University programming, <strong>of</strong>fer and encourage pr<strong>of</strong>essional development<br />

opportunities that enhance awareness and abilities<br />

Measures: review faculty and staff engagement, and surveys <strong>of</strong> program effectiveness
