II.2.2 Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Degrees and Curriculum<br />

Off-Campus <strong>Program</strong>s<br />

<strong>Architecture</strong> <strong>Program</strong> students are able to participate in a series <strong>of</strong> elective <strong>of</strong>f-campus <strong>of</strong>ferings at the<br />

undergraduate and graduate levels.<br />

Undergraduate Elective Semester Long <strong>Program</strong>—The Florence <strong>Program</strong><br />

At the undergraduate level, since 2001 the <strong>Architecture</strong> <strong>Program</strong> has participated in <strong>Roger</strong> <strong>Williams</strong><br />

University’s Florence <strong>Program</strong> <strong>of</strong>fered in conjunction with the Institute for Fine and Liberal Arts at Palazzo<br />

Rucellai. The program consists <strong>of</strong> an elective semester long stay in either Fall or Spring for up to 26<br />

students per semester, based on <strong>Roger</strong> <strong>Williams</strong>’ design studio enrollment maximum <strong>of</strong> 13 students per<br />

studio section. See I.2.3 Physical Resources for floor plans <strong>of</strong> the Palazzo Rucellai, the main classroom<br />

site for the program, and the Palazzo Alamanni, where <strong>Architecture</strong> studio space is established. The<br />

Florence <strong>Architecture</strong> Studio at Palazzo Alamanni is equipped along the same dimensions as our Rhode<br />

Island main campus, with the following equipment,<br />

26 drawing stations equipped with lamp, may-line and pin-up space<br />

9 extra tables with large cutting boards for model making<br />

6 computer stations<br />

1 color printer A2/A3/A4 size<br />

1 b/w laser printer A4 size<br />

1 photocopier A3/A4 size<br />

1 lcd projector<br />

1 slide projector<br />

2 scanner A4 size<br />

1 wireless access point & router<br />

1 large metal drawer for drawings<br />

<strong>Architecture</strong> library (catalogue available)<br />

<strong>Architecture</strong> magazine subscriptions: The Architectural Review, Domus, Abitare<br />

The <strong>Program</strong> is taught by Italian adjunct faculty, all <strong>of</strong> whom were reviewed and interviewed for hiring by<br />

Dean White, have been to the <strong>Roger</strong> <strong>Williams</strong> campus. and who have framed their courses within the<br />

learning outcomes format <strong>of</strong> <strong>Roger</strong> <strong>Williams</strong> University that follows the NAAB Student Performance<br />

Criteria categories. The course numbers and content are all conceived and delivered for <strong>Roger</strong> <strong>Williams</strong><br />

students, within university oversight.<br />

Undergraduate/Graduate Elective Short-Term <strong>Program</strong>s: Faculty Led Trips<br />

<strong>Architecture</strong> students may also participate in elective short-term, 3-week Winter or Summer Study trips <strong>of</strong><br />

3 credits each led by our <strong>Architecture</strong> and Art + Architectural History faculty to several sites in Europe and<br />

Asia:<br />
