<strong>Job</strong> Summary:<br />
The Brown Bag Program (BBP) is a supplemental nutritious food program for<br />
low income residents. The main goal of the BBP is to supplement the existing<br />
food budgets for those in need through the distribution of nutritious food to<br />
approved community sites. Responsibilities include creating monthly menus<br />
for bags, scheduling deliveries and pickups, creating monthly newsletter for<br />
brown bag clients, and ensuring all records are maintained and updated.<br />
Major Responsibilities/Activities:<br />
• Supports and promotes the mission of the <strong>Capital</strong> <strong>Area</strong> <strong>Food</strong> <strong>Bank</strong>;<br />
• Creates monthly menu for brown bag distribution based on<br />
jurisdiction;<br />
• Secures funding for the Program through collaborations with the<br />
Grants Dept;<br />
• Conducts annual fundraiser for holiday basket distribution;<br />
• Publishes monthly Bag It Up! Newsletter for brown bag clients;<br />
• Schedules deliveries with warehouse/transportation manager;<br />
• Monitors sites/site coordinators to ensure program guidelines are met;<br />
• Maintains and updates all records pertaining to BBP;<br />
• Presents BBP trainings on an annual and as needed basis;<br />
• Performs annual site inspections of all BBP sites on an annual and as<br />
needed basis to ensure program guidelines are met;<br />
• Represents the CAFB at community fairs;<br />
• Develops and maintains a close collegial relationship with all<br />
departments and employees of the CAFB;<br />
• Performs other tasks as assigned.<br />
Minimum Requirements:<br />
• AA degree in related field or HS diploma with 3 – 5 years related<br />
experience.<br />
• 2-3 years of customer service experience in a non-profit environment<br />
preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:<br />
• Ability to keep and maintain records.<br />
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher<br />
and the Internet.<br />
• Ability to network with community and faith based organizations.<br />
• Exhibits creative approach to meeting challenges.<br />
• Ability to conduct trainings and make group presentations.<br />
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills.<br />
Essential Physical Functions:<br />
• Physical activities involve sitting for extended periods.<br />
• Site visits may require standing and moderate walking<br />
• Occasionally lifts office supplies or food items up to 20 pounds.<br />
Work Environment:<br />
• Normal business office, with frequent tight deadlines<br />
• Regular hours Monday – Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; extended hours when<br />
necessary and for special events.<br />
