cartridges available to allow aspiration, which is considered the best standard of care.

The barbed piston pierces the solid plunger/bung of a standard cartridge allowing manual aspiration.

This syringe has a cylindrical piston that fits in the self-aspirating cartridge to allow passive/auto aspiration.

Mechanism of the DENTSPLY Self-Aspirating Cartridge
The advantage of the passive aspiration system is that no active movement of the operator’s fingers or thumb is required
to effect DENTSPLY aspiration, product and code: thus the 62413200 chance of any unwanted movement of the needle tip is reduced.
• Self-aspiration cartridges have a specially adapted bung, which
needs a different syringe plunger.

• The thin centre of the bung is distended when thumb
pressure is exerted.
• When force is stopped the bung returns to usual shape causing
negative pressure (aspiration).
