Won’t Change What
Dignity is Proposing
You may have received this
letter from management
What this really means:
We value you so much we want to
cut your health benefits, freeze
your wages, reduce your pension
and take away your job security.
Management doesn’t want to
invest in workers or take their
responsibility for bargaining in
bad-faith with our union.
Management wants you to pay
a ton more for your healthcare
benefits.
Management wants to contract
out our jobs and doesn't want to
give step increases to California
Hospital, Community Hospital of
San Bernardino, St Bernardine
Medical Center and St Mary
Medical Center—Long Beach.
How much of that 54 cents goes
toward large management
salaries?
Management is afraid of our
unity and strength.
News on SEIU-UHW and Dignity Health Contract Negotiations
Dignity Continues to Drag Their
Feet at the Bargaining Table
After months of bargaining, management is still threatening our livelihoods’ with deep
cuts to our healthcare and our job security.
Management’s health proposal includes:
s Management's right to change almost every aspect of the health plans.
s Management’s right to increase co-pays and deductibles at non-Dignity facilities to
whatever they want—even a $1,000 co-pay.
s No limitations on what Dignity can charge for doctor's office co-pays.
s Management’s right to change networks, formularies, or plan design however they
want.
s Management’s right to eliminate or modify plan options so long as one free plan remains.
s Charge part-time employees 30% of premiums.
Volume 12 May 15-16, 2012
s Spouses who have alternative medical coverage available through another employer will be required to pay
a spousal surcharge of $150 per month.
As we know, it’s not just about our health benefits. Management is still threatening:
s To strip us of our job security by subcontracting our jobs
s No wage increases for California Hospital, Long Beach Hospital, and the San Bernardino hospitals
s Only step increases for everyone else
s Employees not at scale would get 1% in the second year
s To reduce our retirement benefits
We are staying united and moving to authorize an unfair labor practice strike so
our bargaining team has the power to call one if we need to. We will do what it
takes to protect our health benefits for ourselves, our children and our families.
“We have had no movement from Dignity on their takeaways. The time
has come for strike votes and to stand up and fight for our jobs and
our security. Make your voice heard and vote. Let’s roll!”
—Andy Sirmay, Northridge Hospital Medical Center
“Dignity Health is going forward with no regard to the flashing
warning signs that we have repeatedly shown them. It is time
for each member to join us as a whole in one
voice and tell Dignity: stop the scare tactics
SEIUand
stop wasting our time. Step up and
bargain a fair contract with us.”
