2.2.3 measurement and testing in legislation<br />
The world economy and the quality of our everyday life depend on<br />
reliable measurements and tests which are trusted and accepted<br />
internationally and which do not form a barrier to trade. In addition to<br />
those regulations requiring legally verified instruments, many<br />
regulated areas require measurements and testing to assess<br />
compliance, either with the regulations or mandated documentary<br />
standards e.g. aviation, car safety testing, healthcare, environmental<br />
and pollution control and the safety of children’s toys. Data quality,<br />
measurements and testing are therefore an important part of many<br />
regulations.<br />
