Month of the Holy Rosary
The month of October each year is dedicated
to the Most Holy Rosary. This is primarily
due to the fact that the liturgical Feast of Our Lady
of the Rosary is celebrated annually on October 7th. It
was instituted to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in gratitude
for the protection that she gives the Church in
answer to the praying of the Rosary by the faithful.
During the month of October, the Rosary in English
is prayed daily (Monday-Saturday) immediately
following the 8:00AM Mass.

again resume for the 2009-10 school year! We will meet in the St.
Ferdinand gym every Wednesday, when school is in session, from
9:30 to 10:30 AM, beginning OCT. 7. Enter through the Activity
Center doors on Mason St . The playgroup serves children ranging
from infancy to 3 years of age along with their parents/
caregivers. We will enjoy an hour of active play, story and music.
The program is open to the community and is free of charge. I am
looking forward to seeing some familiar faces return and meeting
new families. Please spread the word.

The Annual Dinner of Catholic Citizens of Illinois will
feature the Most Reverend Thomas G. Doran of Rockford.
The subject of his talk will be “Some Observations
on the Church in the 21st Century”.
Mrs. Kathleen M. Sullivan, wife, nother and a lifelong
Catholic activist, will receive the St. Thomas More
Award for Catholic Citizenship.
The Catholic Citizen Dinner will be at Drury Lane, Oakbrook

77th Annual Fall Assembly Luncheon of the
Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women,
on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at the Westin

the Year Award will be awarded to actress/

MODLITWA PRZEZ WSTAWIENNICTWO MATKI NAJŒWIÊTSZEJ
Jak już wszyscy wiemy, w naszej parafii
wprowadzone zostały ostatnio dwa regularne nabożeństwa
Maryjne. Pierwsze z nich to Godzinki do
Najświętszej Maryi Panny, a drugim jest Nowenna do
Matki Bożej Nieustającej Pomocy.
Modlitwa Maryjna zakorzeniona jest
bardzo mocno w naszej polskiej tradycji. Już
od dziecka uczono nas, że Maryja jest największą
ze świętych, że jest naszą Matką.
Od dziecka czujemy bliskośc z Maryją
matką Chrystusa. Warto zaznaczyc, że
bliskośc ta znajduje swoje uzasadnienie psychologiczne
- zazwyczaj dziecko łatwiej
nawiązuje relację emocjonalną z matką niż z
ojcem, to matka bywa tą czułą opiekunką,
która litościwie rozumie swoje dzieci.
Uzasadnienie tej psychologicznej zależności,
znajdziemy w jednej z najpiękniejszych polskich
pieśni "Serdeczna Matko", w której
znajdujemy słowa: "Lecz kiedy ojciec rozgniewany
siecze, szczęśliwy kto się do matki uciecze". Matka
Boża jest czułą opiekunką, która wstawia się za nami u
Ojca i w naszym imieniu prosi Go o to czego nam potrzeba.
To Ojciec jest tym, który daje, ale Matka,
umiłowana przez Ojca, może u Niego uprosic bardzo
wiele dla swoich dzieci.
Wielu z nas zawdzięcza bardzo dużo wstawiennictwu
Matki Bożej. Dla przykładu wspomnę, że Sługa
Boży Papież Jan Paweł II, otwarcie dziękował Matce
Najświętszej za opiekę podczas pamiętnego zamachu
na jego życie w 1981 roku. Ja osobiście również
przyznaję się i wierzę mocno, że to Matka Najświętsza
uprosiła u Ojca zdrowie dla najbliższej memu sercu
osoby z mojej rodziny. To przed obrazem Matki Bożej
Nieustającej Pomocy klęczałem i ze
łzami w oczach prosiłem o zdrowie, dla
tak bliskiej mi osoby, kiedy lekarze
przekazali nam wyrok. Moje prośby zostały
wysłuchane, dokonało się cudowne
uleczenie za przyczyną Matki Bożej.
Uleczenie, którego sam jestem świadkiem.
Dziś jestem wiernym czcicielem
Matki Najświętszej jako duchowej opiekunki
i wstawienniczki u Boga.

Pomocy w każdą środę o 6:30 wieczorem.
Godzinki do Najświętszej Maryi Panny o 6:30
rano w każdą niedzielę z wyjątkiem drugich niedziel
miesiąca. W drugą niedzielę miesiąca Godzinki są
śpiewane o 9:45 rano.

Miesiąc październik jest miesiącem modlitwy różańcowej. Serdecznie zapraszamy na nabożeństwa
różańcowe:
• Każdego dnia po Mszy św. o godz. 7:00 wieczorem ( z wyjątkiem czwartków różaniec
przed Mszy św.)
• W każdą sobotę o godz 7:00 wieczorem bez Mszy św.
• W każdą niedzielę o godz. 6:30 wieczorem
Różaniec nie może zastąpić Mszy świętej czy uczestnictwa w innych celebracjach liturgicznych;
nie stanowi konkurencji ani dla Liturgii Godzin, ani dla koronki do Miłosierdzia Bożego,
ani dla innych form kultu. Jest natomiast wspaniałym i potężnym sposobem przeżywania
naszej wiary w żywej łączności z Maryją, wraz z którą wędrujemy po drogach tajemnic naszego
odkupienia. Zachęcamy do wytrwałej modlitwy różańcowej, szczególnie w październiku
- powierzajmy Matce Bożej wszystkie nasze bliskie sercu sprawy.

Po ataku atomowym w Hiroszimie i Nagasaki niemal
wszystko zostało zrównane z ziemią z wyjątkiem dwóch
budynków. W jednym było 12 osób, a w drugim 18. Oni
przeżyli. Specjaliści Armii Stanów Zjednoczonych obserwowali
ten fenomen i dociekali w jaki sposób oba domy
wraz z mieszkańcami mogły ocaleć. W końcu stwierdzili,
że musiała tam zadziałać jakaś siła nadprzyrodzona. Sami
uratowani opowiadali, że w noc poprzedzającą atak
bombowy usłyszeli pukanie do drzwi. Twierdzą, że ukazał
im się Anioł, który zaprowadził ich do domu, w którym
mieszkała rodzina wierna wezwaniom Matki Bożej i
wypełniająca Jej polecenia, aby codziennie odmawiać
różaniec. I jak nie dziękować bogu i Matce Najświętszej
za ten cud?
I my członkowie Kół Żywego Różańca pw. Matki Bożej
Częstochowskiej wypowiadamy słowa płynące z serca
wypełnionego wdzięcznością za wszystkie otrzymane
łaski dla nas samych, dla naszych rodzin i dla naszej parafii.
W dniu 1 października naszym Kołom Żywego Różańca
mija 14-ta rocznica ich istnienia i działalności i za
ten czas, chwilami niepojętej łaski wypowiadamy nasze
wielkie „DZIĘKUJĘ”.
Patrząc na miniony czas widzimy jak wiele nam było dane
przeżyć: Ufundowanie i poświęcenie chorągwi Kół,
ufundowanie i poświęcenie dużego i małego obraz Matki
Bożej Częstochowskiej, wprowadzenie Hymnu do różnego
rodzaju uroczystości w Kołach autorstwa Kaziemierza
Oleksego i aranżacji muzycznej byłego opiekuna ks. Władysława
Juszczaka, comiesięczne spotkania formacyjne
comiesięczne spotkania Maryjne, pielgrzymki do Sanktuariów
Maryjnych, obchody Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej
wraz z odpustem , Wieczory Różańcowe, Wieczory Kolęd
i wspólne odmawianie Różańca.
Dziękujemy Tej, która o pierwszych chwil istnienia naszych
Kół Żywego Różańca wspiera je i jest najlepszą
opiekunką. Podziękowania i gorącą wdzięcznością obejmujemy
założyciela Kół ks. Dr. Jerzego Bieleckiego i ks.
Proboszcza Davida Cortesi, obecnego opiekuna i byłych
opiekunów Kół. Dziękujemy za obecnych kapłanów, za

ON MARRIAGE, IN THE DARK, IN THE SATURN, IN MY RUNNING GEAR

My wife jokes that if she makes it to heaven, she will have gotten
there on my coattails. This started before we got married
when I was a bit more into the Sunday Mass routine than she
was. Not that Sunday Mass is anybody’s ticket to Paradise, but,
because attendance there is at least some small exertion in a
Christly direction, it’s probably not a bad place to start. These
days we’re both regulars, either at our home parish or elsewhere
as our travels and schedules dictate. Every now and then,
though, our travels and schedules dictate that we attend Mass
separately. Like, I’ll go at 4:30 on Saturday afternoon and she’ll
go at 10:30 on Sunday morning. Or I’ll go here at St. Constance
on Sunday morning and she’ll catch the 6:00 PM Mass at IC. It’s
all good, but it’s better--for me, anyway--when I’m sitting/
standing/kneeling next to Gail during the Eucharistic celebration.
It’s a religious experience either way, but it seems more
complete--more sublime, even--with her at my side. And speaking
of religious experiences, I’m pretty sure I had one the other
day. It was this past Saturday morning, in fact--a little before
6:00 AM--and I was driving to the lakefront for a training run.
The sun was not yet up, so in the darkness I found myself pushing
the radio buttons in my Saturn looking for something--or
somebody--to keep me company along the way. Uninspired by
the FM musical selections, I settled on a Relevant Radio program
in which Fr. John Corapi was discussing marriage. I
paused when I heard him compare husbands and wives with

Olympians who bring back the gold, the silver, or the bronze.
Corapi’s point was that as great as these Olympic champions
are, the real champions to him are the men and women who stay
in committed marital unions, struggling at times with the hardships
that such unions invariably can bring. Corapi said spouses
need to be there for each other, but more so, they need to help
each other get to heaven. Wham! Corapi waxed on about how
sacred marriage is because of this, and about the good husbands
and wives who keep the faith when it’s so easy to walk away
instead. I’m no saint, and on any given day, I’m not the best guy
to be around. But at a precise moment in time last Saturday
morning--in the dark, in the Saturn, in my running gear, with Fr.
Corapi on the radio--I couldn’t help but thank God for my own
wife, and to appreciate all the more how good it is to be married
to her. Later that afternoon, when I sat down to consider today’s
readings, here’s what I found in the Gospel: “…from the beginning
of creation, God made them male and female. For this reason
a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his
wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” Timing is everything.
I can be hell to live with some days, but heaven’s still the goal,
and Fr. Corapi understands better than me that even during the
tough times--or perhaps especially during the tough times--Gail
and I, like wives and husbands everywhere, are on each other’s
coattails, bringing each other home

BAPTISM:
For Children: a pre-Baptism class is required for Baptism of the first
child. Classes are held in English on the first Wednesday of each
month at 7:00PM in the Convent, and in Polish on the last Tuesday of
each month at 7:30PM in the Church. Following registration, the
sacrament of Baptism is celebrated in English on the second Saturday
each month at 6:00PM and on the fourth Sunday of the month at the
12:30PM Mass. The sacrament of Baptism is celebrated in Polish on
the first Saturday of the month at 6:00PM and on the third Sunday of
the month at the 3:00PM Mass. Please call the rectory to register at

For Adults: Classes are taught through the Rite of Christian Initiation
Program (RCIA) on Sunday mornings at 10:00AM. Please call Stan
