PERSONA 4
ARENA ULTIMAX
FORMAT PS3 / ETA NOV
PUB SEGA / DEV ARC SYSTEM
WORKS/ATLUS
Almost a year after its
original Japanese release,
the updated version of
batpoop-crazy 2D fighter
Persona 4 Arena is finally
making its multicoloured,
fit-inducing way onto your
humble last-gen bestie. The
Ultimax edition of the game
will come jam-packed with a
bunch of new jaw-breaking
characters including Junpei
Iori, Yukari Takeba and Rise
Kujikawa to name but a few.
More importantly, Ultimax
also introduces a new
combat type known as
Shadow, which radically
alters the fighting style and
moves of certain fighters
on the Persona 3-meets-
Persona 4 roster.
DEV YUKE’S/VISUAL CONCEPTS
News of the PS4 version’s
delay until November has
powerbombed us through
a flaming table of despair,
but we’re riding a second
wind thanks to some new
details on 2K15’s MyCareer
mode. Taken from the NBA
2K games and redesigned
to suit the melodrama of
the WWE, it’s a perfect fit
for the series. You’ll start
out in the Performance
Center, work your way into
NXT (alongside upcoming
playable stars Sami Zayn,
Adrian Neville and more)
before graduating to Raw.
And with every action
affecting your career, WWE
2K15 is set to be the world’s
first pro-wrestling RPG.
FORMAT PS4 / ETA 2015
PUB TECHLAND / DEV TECHLAND
This medieval first-person hack ‘n’
slasher had relatively recent ups
and downs culminating in its PS3
version being scrapped but,
judging by the latest gameplay video, the
upgrade to Chrome Engine 6 (which is also
powering Dying Light) is just the kick up the
chainmailed-backside the project was
crying out for. And that link with Techland’s
free-running zombie playground extends to
the movement of main man Ayden as well,
thanks to a game-changing swooping dodge
manoeuvre that makes the axe-swinging,
spell-casting combat far more tactical than it
once was. With a noticeably improved draw
distance and a genuinely impressive use of
dynamic lighting, this dungeon-based
adventure is one of the most beautiful worlds
we’ve seen to date on PlayStation 4.
DEEP DOWN
FORMAT PS4 / ETA 2015
PUB CAPCOM / DEV CAPCOM
A recent set of tech videos have
made their way online and boy, do
they look pretty. While apparently
indicative of the final game, the sight of
a blade-wielding giant badger blundering
about Deep Down’s murky dungeons has
got us all excited again for Capcom’s newgen
action-RPG. It’s not all doom and gloom
though – we even get to see the Assassin’s
Creed style ‘loading’ of a new area, complete
with glittery waves that give way to a
candlelit chamber that’s so nice to look at we
might just forgive all the modern-day stuff.
DEV 7TH CHORD

After a successful launch
in Japan last year, the
improved version of
formerly DS-only JRPG Tales
Of Hearts is finally hitting
Western PS Vitas. Much like
its many series brethren,
Tales Of Hearts R is an
action-RPG that splits its
hectic action between good
old exploration and dustups
with various goons
and monsters. The remake
leaves the original version’s
story intact, but does
provide some new titbits
that expand on the Hearts
lore. The Combination Aerial
LMBS combat system also
gets a tune-up to give the
whole shebang an extra
layer of spectacle.
Do you own a guitar? Is it
now rotting in a wardrobe
buried under old copies of
Kerrang! and NME? Is that
dream of becoming the next
James Hetfield shattered by
the reality that it takes
more than an afternoon to
learn Master Of Puppets?
Well, gather up those dream
shards, Mr Wannabe Slash,
because Rocksmith 2014 is
coming to PS4 to teach
you your pull-offs from your
hammer-ons. A port of the
PS3 Rocksmith sequel, this
version boasts over 50
songs and allows you to
import your paid-for DLC
from PS3. Amazingly, PS
Vita Remote Play is enabled,
albeit just to study songs.
PUB SONY / DEV SUMO DIGITAL
As if all that MGS V
footage from TGS
wasn’t enough to
send us into a Metal
Gear-obsessed frenzy, now we
hear Sackboy and his new gang
of material mates are
getting a set of Ground
Zeroes-themed
costumes – will you
look at that lil’
eyepatch. S’cute!
And it’s not just
MGS getting an
LBP3 love-in –
moustache-toting
beast slayer The
Order: 1886 is also
getting a Sack-centric
version of gentleman
hero Grayson. Dat
facial hair though…
The MGS V threads
will arrive soon,
while The Order: 1886
gear will land in Feb
next year to coincide
with the game itself.
