Chapter 2.0 Entomopter Configuration and Operation
2.4 Environmental Conditions for Flight on Mars
information and the influence it has on the Entomopter design may be subject to change as our
understanding of the Mars environment increases.
Mars atmospheric profiles are listed in Appendix A. This appendix consists of four atmospheric
profiles generated by different sources and for different locations on Mars. The data available
with each profile is not necessarily the same.
The first profile is a reference atmosphere supplied by JPL. This data was generated for a latitude
of -20°. It provides data on temperature, pressure, viscosity, and density from just above the
surface to nearly 10 km [142].
