With an almost perfect weight distribution of 51:49 between
the front and rear of the car, the Jaguar XJ is poised, ready to
deliver superb handling. This is one of the many benefits of the
Lightweight Vehicle Architecture body construction and, with
the company’s focus on environmental responsibility, is the
very core of Jaguar engineering and design philosophy.
Lightweight Vehicle Architecture means an all-new
lightweight aluminum body structure that uses the
state-of-the-art aerospace construction techniques
of bonding and riveting. It also means fusion alloy
technology, magnesium, high-strength aluminum and
one-piece door assemblies and that the XJ is between
300 and 600 lbs lighter than some of its competitors.
Less weight reduces the mass that requires acceleration
and results in better fuel economy and lower emissions.
