These books basicallywere autobiographical.
Harry and Winky were stalwart active pillars in Highland ParkPresbyterian Church in Dallas,
Texas for decades! His occasional roleas a host and announcer at the "Discussion Group
C" Sunday Schoolclass they attended in their later years, he gave an opening prayer onthe
very last Sunday that he was able to attend church. It wasrecalled by many who heard it as
just about the most beautiful prayerthey had heard. Harry was serious about his Christian
commitments andhe showed it in preparations such as being up to par in leading thepeople
with a prayer.
It was my pleasure to attend the memorial service and to greet Winkyand many of their
friends there at the church. I told Winky that Ibelieved I was representing her most distant
relative at the service!Winky and I are descended from Governor William Bradford of
PlymouthColony. She is my seventh cousin, twice removed!
Harry was born on Saint Valentine's Day, and the history behind thatholiday is interesting.
In the 3rd century, Emperor Claudius II wasfaced with defending the Roman Empire from
the invading Goths. Hebelieved single men made better soldiers so he temporarily
forbademarriage. He also forced the Senate to deify the former EmperorGallienus, including
him with the Roman gods to be worshipped.
Legend has it that Valentine was a bishop in Italy who risked theEmperor's wrath by
refusing to worship idols and for secretly marryingyoung couples. Saint Valentine was
dragged before the Prefect ofRome, who condemned him to be beaten to death with clubs
and have hishead cut off, February 14, 269AD.
While awaiting execution, it is said he prayed for the jailers' sickdaughter, who miraculously
recovered. He wrote her a note and signedit, "from your Valentine." In 496 AD, Pope
Gelasius designatedFebruary 14th as "Saint Valentine's Day."
Signing an X for a kiss began in Medieval times where those who couldnot write marked an
X in the presence of witnesses and kissed it toshow sincerity. The X, or Chi symbol, was
the Greek letter used torepresent the name of Christ, as X-Mas for Christmas, and was used
asa written form of the oath "So help me God."
James Harry Waugh and Marilyn Edith Steele were married on 27 Jun 1957.They had the
following children:
i. Virginia Claire Waugh was born on 30 Jun 1958. She married Kenneth Earl
Moore before 1988.

Consider-6, Submit-5, Silas-4, Jerusha-3, Thomas-2, William-1) was born on 17 Apr 1915 in
Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts. She died on 08 Sep 1981 in Inverness, Florida.
William Ward Bogert was born on 13 Mar 1909 in Hohokus, Bergen, New Jersey. He died
on 10 Jun 1976 in Mt. Pleasant, Hawthorne, Westchester, New York.
