b. You should file the duplicate copy at your dealership.<br />
c. Give original to vehicle owner.<br />
d. Advise the vehicle owner that their copy <strong>of</strong> the VSA-39 is pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> authority to<br />
transfer plates and must be carried while operating the vehicle.<br />
e. That the permit is valid for 5 days or until the repairs are completed whichever<br />
comes first.<br />
f. The permit may be renewed once, if this vehicle is still undergoing repairs in your<br />
shop.<br />
g. If your customer’s vehicle is still in your shop at the end <strong>of</strong> the 5-day period, you<br />
may apply for a renewal <strong>of</strong> the emergency transfer <strong>of</strong> plates.<br />
h. You may apply for only one renewal.<br />
i. A renewal, like the first permit, is not valid for longer than 5 days.<br />
5.5.2 Applying for Renewal <strong>of</strong> Emergency Transfer <strong>of</strong> Plates<br />
a. To apply for a renewal, you should obtain the expiring original copy <strong>of</strong> the VSA-<br />
39 from the customer.<br />
b. Complete jointly with the vehicle owner a new VSA-39 in duplicate, checking the<br />
Renewal box.<br />
c. When the customer returns the vehicle, be sure to obtain their copy <strong>of</strong> the VSA-<br />
39, and file it along with the copy you already have, at your dealership.<br />
