1) Always collect a transfer fee <strong>of</strong> $2.00, unless there is a weight increase;<br />
then the fee may be greater than $2.00.<br />
2) Collect appropriate fee if a Special Plate is being requested.<br />
3) If there is an exchange <strong>of</strong> plates, there is no additional fee.<br />
4) If license plates submitted were in weight class and will be transferred to a<br />
greater weight class, collect the difference between the fees, prorated for<br />
the number <strong>of</strong> months remaining in the current registration period.<br />
5) If original license plates are exchanged for license plates which require a<br />
greater fee, collect the amount <strong>of</strong> difference between the fees, prorated for<br />
the number <strong>of</strong> months remaining in the current registration period.<br />
6) If the vehicle is uninsured collect the uninsured motor vehicle fee for the<br />
number <strong>of</strong> months in the original registration period.<br />
5.3 DLR 510-APPLYING FOR REISSUE OF VEHICLE LICENSE PLATES<br />
5.3.1 Applying for Reissue <strong>of</strong> Vehicle License Plates<br />
When the vehicle owner (or dealer) needs to apply to DMV for re-issue <strong>of</strong> license plates,<br />
the owner or dealer submits:<br />
a. form VSA-14, “Application for Registration”<br />
1) reviews application to determine type <strong>of</strong> license plates requested/chosen<br />
by applicant<br />
2) checks the re-issue box<br />
b. any remaining license plates(s) and decals, and the current registration card<br />
c. appropriate re-issue fee (If the vehicle is uninsured, refer to Chapter 6)<br />
Note: If applicant requests a special plate re-issue, collect the special plate fee and the<br />
transfer fee.<br />
