0.2 Usage<br />
This manual is designed to be used by dealership personnel. The primary uses <strong>of</strong> this<br />
manual are:<br />
• To explain how your business may become a properly licensed dealership in<br />
<strong>Virginia</strong><br />
• To explain DMV/MVDB and Commonwealth <strong>of</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong>’s requirements which<br />
apply to your dealership’s operations<br />
• To help make transacting business with DMV/MVDB as easy as possible<br />
• To help you, as a dealer, in handling your customer’s title and license transactions<br />
with DMV<br />
• This manual assumes that in most cases the dealer will be submitting the title and<br />
registration paperwork, fees and taxes to DMV on behalf <strong>of</strong> the purchaser(s).<br />
Several areas will therefore mention, “…the owner or the dealer…” to cover<br />
either case.<br />
0.3 Updating<br />
The <strong>Motor</strong> Vehicle <strong>Dealer</strong> manual is designed to be updated and extended as <strong>Virginia</strong>’s<br />
laws and DMV/MVDB policies change.<br />
