All lectures will be given basically in
English and practical training is planned
for English as well as German groups
Most of engineering and naturally materials e.g.
metals, polymers, ceramics and rocks, are
aggregates of crystals with non-random
distribution of crystallographic orientations,
namely texture. Such textured polycrystals show
in almost all cases anisotropies in their
macroscopic properties. Moreover, with
developments of computational and measuring
techniques, macroscopic and microscopic
texture evolutions itself are being widely used as
a sensitive tool to understand the
crystallographic mechanism in many thermomechanical
treatments.
This texture course is intended to provide a
basic background of the principal of texture
measurement, evaluation and interpretation. The
basic theory and practical application in
engineering and scientific field will also be
discussed in this workshop. Particular attention
will be paid to the basic under-standing of
texture and the qualitative interpretation of
texture data for any practical purpose.
The basic course on crystallographic textures
will be held at the Institute of Materials Science
and Engineering, Clausthal University of
Technology and organized by the Research
Group.
