What is the C2 (Choices and
Consequences) Project?
We know there aren’t many offenders who
commit acquisitive crime for fun. Most do it
to fund an addiction of some sort, whether
drugs, alcohol, gambling or anything else. C2
aims to help you address the cause of your
offending so that you can have a realistic
chance of living a life free from crime.
Is this for you?
You know yourself that for some time you
have been committing
crime to fund your
lifestyle.You may feel
trapped in a vicious
circle of offend - arrest -
court - custody - release
Entry to the
programme is a
judge’s decision
- offend - arrest - court.
Does this sound
familiar?
Who else can benefit?
Things are probably difficult for your friends
and relatives as well.You may put a brave face
on it, but leaving loved ones behind while you
complete another prison sentence is not easy
for anybody. A prison visiting hall is no place
for you to conduct a relationship with your
partner, children or family.They all deserve
better than that, and so do you. If you have
people close to you, do they want you to
stop offending?
How does your future look?
What is certain is that at some point in your
life you will decide to change your ways. It is
very unlikely that you will still be offending
when you are drawing your pension! So why
not make a decision now and start enjoying
the benefits your choice brings? It will be
difficult and at times you may wonder if you
have made the right decision but there has
never been a better opportunity than this.

probation officer regularly
What does
the C2
project
offer?
Ultimately, the
C2 project
offers an
alternative to a
custodial
sentence.
It can provide help and guidance with any of
the issues that you face. Co-ordinated by the
Probation Service, you will have the
opportunity to access help according to your
needs.This help may include specialist drug
treatment, education, life skills and job
specific training, relationship counselling and
accommodation.
What
is
expected
of me?
We need your willingness to
cooperate and your commitment.
Once you are on the project you can
expect intensive treatment and
support. In return, you are
expected to stick to the rules
and make the most of the
programme.The benefits to you
are massive.
You will be helped to
deal with any
addictions
It is realistic to expect that if you
keep your side of the bargain, in
six to twelve months time, you
will be free from crime, in stable
accommodation, employed and
altogether in a much
happier situation. Of
course, if you don’t
keep your side of the
bargain, you can expect
to be still committing
crime and waiting for
the next search warrant
at your house or the
next court appearance
and prison sentence.
