Forests, Lands, and Communities<br />

Our Forest, Lands and Communities program is dedicated to conserving the rich biological heritage <strong>of</strong><br />

B.C,’s forests, while providing a basis for sustainable local economies that respect ecological limits. As the<br />

leading forestry conservation voice in B.C., the <strong>Sierra</strong> <strong>Club</strong>’s B.C. <strong>Chapter</strong> is well positioned to be effective<br />

in shaping forest policy.<br />

Great Bear Rainforest: On the Home Stretch<br />

<strong>Sierra</strong> <strong>Club</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Canada</strong>, BC <strong>Chapter</strong> and its partners in the Great Bear Rainforest campaign launched the<br />

“Stand Tall” campaign to engage the public to help us protect the Great Bear Rainforest. Approximately<br />

40,000 people let B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell know they wanted him to live up to his commitment to<br />

finalize a land use plan for the region by the end <strong>of</strong> summer, <strong>2005</strong>.
