<str<strong>on</strong>g>Minutes</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Annual</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>General</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Body</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Meeting</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>held</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> <strong>12</strong>-<strong>01</strong>-2<strong>01</strong>3.<br />

The meeting started with a silent prayer at 2.30 pm in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Auditorium. Dr. S.D Madhu Kumar<br />

Secretary gave <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> welcome speech. Secretary menti<strong>on</strong>ed <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> need for parents to visit <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Institute frequently and interact with faculty and wardens <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> hostels. He also suggested that<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> parents may make surprise visits to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> hostels. He highlighted <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> unique features <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> NITC<br />

like qualified and committed faculty members, strike free campus which never gets affected by<br />

Hartals , bandths etc.<br />

Dr. V.K Govindan, president CREC PTA launched <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> web page <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> CREC PTA -<br />

http://www.nitc.ac.in/crecepta . In his presidential address, he informed <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> parents about <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

c<strong>on</strong>straints within which <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> academic activities <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Institute are progressing. He sited <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

sudden increase in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> student intake, and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> delay in expanding <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> infrastructure facilities<br />

for that increase caused <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>se situati<strong>on</strong>. He has also described <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> new plans <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Institute is<br />

taking for improving <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> curriculum. Also he pointed out that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Institute is trying for academic<br />

tie ups with Industry and o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r good Universities in India and aboard.<br />

Secretary presented <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> minutes <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> last AGM and it was approved by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> general body. He<br />

also presented <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> summary <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> activities <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> PTA during <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> last year.<br />

Mr. Raghu C.V, Joint Secretary cum Treasurer, presented <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> audited financial report for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

year 2<strong>01</strong>1-<strong>12</strong>. This was also approved by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>General</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Body</str<strong>on</strong>g>. He also presented <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> budget for<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> financial year 20<strong>12</strong>-2<strong>01</strong>3 and was approved by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>General</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Body</str<strong>on</strong>g>. The general body<br />

suggested that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>se documents may be distributed am<strong>on</strong>g <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> PTA members in advance.<br />

Dr. C. Muraleedharan, presented his experience as Dean students and previous Chief warden,<br />

about <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> indiscipline seen am<strong>on</strong>g a small fracti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> student community. He requested<br />

help from parents in improving this situati<strong>on</strong>. He also pointed out that a fracti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> students are<br />

giving over emphasis for n<strong>on</strong>-academic activities in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> campus.<br />

Dr. S. Jayaraj, Chief warden in his address reported <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> new initiatives from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> hostel side. He<br />

admitted that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re are problems with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> student accommodati<strong>on</strong> and temporarily <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Institute is giving <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> newly c<strong>on</strong>structed faculty apartments for students. He also told that <strong>on</strong>ce<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> mega hostel is completed <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> current accommodati<strong>on</strong> problems can be<br />

solved. He suggested that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> parents should not blindly fulfill all <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> requests from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir wards<br />

like requests for bike, laptops etc. He also suggested that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> parents should watch <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir wards<br />

regularly <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir CGPA, m<strong>on</strong>ey handling etc. he also suggested that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> parents should keep<br />

c<strong>on</strong>tact with faculty Advisors and wardens.


Mr. A. Selvam in his address, told that PTA can act as a bridge between <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> parents and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

teachers. He also told that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> initiatives for department level PTA meetings is a good move. He<br />

emphasized <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> parents resp<strong>on</strong>sibility in bringing up <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> wards.<br />

Mr. Suresh Kumar DB, in his address, told parents to watch <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir wards activities and ask <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m<br />

to take maximum advantage <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> good campus atmosphere available at NITC. He shared his<br />

own positive experience <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> his s<strong>on</strong> who graduated from NITC, now working in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> US after<br />

doing higher studies from University <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Illinois.<br />

Mr. K.C Sasidhar, M. Balaji Nayak , Zainul Abid. P were nominated as <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> new executive<br />

members for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> PTA Executive committee. Dr. P.S Sathi Devi, was nominated for representing<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> parents <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Final year B.Tech students as <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re were no nominati<strong>on</strong>s came from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> final<br />

year parents. It was decided to get <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> nominati<strong>on</strong>s from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Head <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Departments for<br />

filling up <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong>e remaining vacancy in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> PTA executive.<br />

In <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> open discussi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re came many suggesti<strong>on</strong>s from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> parents. A summary <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> points<br />

raised are given below.<br />

• Rules and Regulati<strong>on</strong>s should be forcefully implemented without any diluti<strong>on</strong>. Parents<br />

will fully support all such acti<strong>on</strong>s<br />

• Parents stressed <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> need for general cleanliness in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> hostel rooms, need for tight<br />

security, proper and timely handling <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> illegal activities <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> students etc.<br />

• Some parents shared <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir worries about <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> in disciplinary activities which <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y fear<br />

are happening in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> hostel rooms.<br />

• Parents expressed <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir willingness to work with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> wardens and faculty to c<strong>on</strong>trol <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

in disciplinary activities in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> hostels.<br />

• Some parents pointed out <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> difficulties <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> first year students are facing from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

senior students during activities like Tathtva and Ragam.<br />

Mr. M.P Madhavan proposed <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> vote <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> thanks and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> meeting came to and end at 5.00 pm.<br />

Around 260 members attend <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> meeting including parents and teachers.
