Steve Baker

Steve is currently working as National Trade Services Adviser for British Chambers of
Commerce (BCC) and uses his first-hand experience of international trade to develop
and promote UK Chamber services to exporters. Steve is a Chartered Marketer
and member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. In his later position of Manager-International
Trade Certification, Steve was responsible for management and
administration of Certification Services through the network of more than 60 British
Chambers on behalf of UK Government. Steve joined BCC in 1989, in the position of
Export and Trade Manager, developing the range of export services offered through
the UK chamber network.

Lars works in the Chief Economist Unit of the European Commission’s Directorate
General for Trade, which he joined in 2004. He is also Associate Professor at Lund
University, Sweden, from where he obtained his doctoral degree in economics. He
is specialized in regional and bilateral aspects of European Union (EU) trade policy,
including EU trade policy towards developing countries, areas in which he has
published widely. Previously, he worked for the European Commission’s Directorate
General for External Relations and he has also served as a Special Advisor in the
Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

After studying journalism at the “Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona”, Josep started
working for several local newspapers and magazines until 1976 when he began his
career as a foreign correspondent. He has worked in London, Beijing, Tokyo, Hong
Kong and as regional correspondent for Southeast Asia, the Pacific and in Geneva.
From 2000 to present he has been Spokesman and Information Officer at the World
Trade Organization.

Evert Jan started to work for the Chamber of Commerce for the Northern Netherlands
in 2005 as a senior Trade Consultant. He advises companies in his region how
to strategically enter foreign markets. He also organizes trade missions, seminars
and workshops. He is secretary of the Frisian Export club, Advisory Board Member of
the International Business and Management Studies and is member of the Northern
Netherlands initiative of Local Government, Education and Entrepreneurship to
stimulate the competitiveness of the region. He travelled to all continents and did
business for several companies in more than 16 emerging markets.

Dominique is the Executive Director of the Union of French Chambers of Commerce
and Industry Abroad (UCCIFE) as well as the newly created association of CCIs in
France involved in the internationalization of French companies. He has had a long
experience in this particular field as well as in the education sector in France and
abroad. He has been Executive Director of the French Chamber of Commerce and
Industry in South Africa and recently in Morocco; Director for International and
European Affairs of the Assembly of French Chambers of Commerce and Industry
and has also worked for the Paris Chamber of Commerce. He studied international
relations, mass communication and political sciences.

Wouter Van Gulck is General Manager of the Federation of Belgian Chambers
of Commerce since March 2007. Prior to this, he was involved in international
trade promotion as a trade commissioner for the Flemish Region of Belgium in
Johannesburg and in New York, and as deputy chief of cabinet at the cabinet of the
Vice-Minister-President of the Flemish Region. Wouter has a master degree in law
from the Catholic University of Leuven and a master of business administration from
the Vlerick Leuven Ghent Management School.

George was born in Greece, grew up in Egypt, studied in England and USA, and now lives
and works in Switzerland. He began his career in a teaching and research engineering
at the University of Cambridge, England. Then he worked for a major internationally
active engineering consulting firm in Switzerland. His last position in the firm was that of
president. In 1990 he joined KPMG Switzerland as a partner on the director level. His first
responsibility was to head the international management consulting division. Now he is
Visiting Professor of Development Economics at the Edinburgh Napier University, President
of the International Institute of Investment Promotion, and Senior Partners of DIAS
Management. Through conducting business operations in over 80 countries, George has
gained extensive international experience and an ability to operate across cultural barriers.

At EUROCHAMBRES, Dirk is Director of International Affairs. He has more than 10
years experience in international relations, with emphasis on external economic
co-operation and trade policy. His field experience relates to Central and Eastern
Europe, the Mediterranean region, Latin America and Asia. He has previously also
been responsible for the Academy. Dirk has an economic background and holds a
Masters from the College of Europe.
