In comparison with EIS predictions this would correspond to the bulk of the open cut dewatering (25.8%), the sediment control dams (11.5%) and a proportion of the tailings water recovery (43.5%). The EIS prediction for average licenced extraction of 2.6% compares with about 6% of inflows in 2011 – 2012. The recovery of water from the underground (8%) was less than the EIS prediction of 13%. Releases to the Hunter River via the HRSTS amounted to 12% of outflows. There were no reported spills from the water management system. There were no transfers to United Collieries and a negligible water use for potable supply.
