2.3 Standard Classification adopted for SEASON with digital coding<br />

scheme.<br />

2.2.1 Reference: <strong>Land</strong> Records<br />

2.2.2 Definition: It is the name <strong>of</strong> the field which is being used to capture information<br />

regarding crop season being followed in the states. The entire agricultural operations is<br />

divided into major two crop seasons namely Kharif which lasts from third week <strong>of</strong> May<br />

till the end <strong>of</strong> October. This is followed by Rabi season(from November till April). In<br />

some states, a third season known as Jayad is also followed.<br />

2.2.3 Scope: The prime scope <strong>of</strong> the field is to describe the crop season.<br />

A standard list <strong>of</strong> standard codes along with name <strong>of</strong> crop seasons is being given in <strong>Table</strong><br />
