identification, RSO’s information, type of training, number of troops, type<br />
of ordnance by DODIC, and unit’s location using a six digit grid coordinate.<br />
Maintain and monitor the appropriate LONGRIFLE safety net at all times and<br />
make hourly radio checks.<br />
4. Unit Hikes. Units scheduled to do hike or convoy training shall have a<br />
<strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong>-certified RSO, a safety vehicle, and appropriate medical<br />
personnel (per figure 1-2); and will check in and out by radio with LONGRIFLE<br />
upon commencing and terminating training in their assigned areas. Submission<br />
of TARs for unit hikes and convoys shall be accompanied by a route overlay no<br />
less than seven (7) days prior to the planned hike. Overlays shall be submitted<br />
by Email or hand-delivered to the Range Scheduling Office. All<br />
training areas needed for the hike or convoy must be scheduled separately via<br />
RFMSS; submitting an overlay is NOT as substitute for scheduling the training<br />
areas. The Area Commander shall approve any hikes passing through a cantonment<br />
area. Hike routes shall remain clear of housing areas by no less than<br />
500 meters. Monitor the appropriate LONGRIFLE safety net at all times and<br />
make hourly radio checks. All changes to the hike route, while on the march,<br />
shall be approved by LONGRIFLE.<br />
5. Environmental. Individual training exercises and events conducted in<br />
<strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong> Training Areas shall comply with the provisions of Chapter 2<br />
of this Order. Training areas containing sensitive environmental resources<br />
that must be protected are identified in figure 2-1. In many cases, the<br />
sensitive environmental resources are found in a very small portion of the<br />
training area. Refer to the most current Environmental Operations Map for<br />
specific locations of these resources; and refer to Chapter 2 of this Order<br />
for specific environmental restrictions when operating near these sensitive<br />
areas.<br />
6009. CONDUCT OF TRAINING<br />
1. General. Assignment to a training area does not include any range, AFA,<br />
MFA, OP, CALSITE, LZ, DZ, airspace, or other training facility (including<br />
combat towns) located within that area unless specifically requested and<br />
approved by the Range Scheduling Office. Therefore, personnel are not<br />
authorized access to these areas.<br />
a. Training shall be conducted and supervised in a manner that avoids<br />
damage to facilities and utilities located within the training areas. Units<br />
exercising in the vicinity of any aviation training facility shall ensure<br />
sites are not disturbed, no obstruction is left in the area, and no foxholes<br />
or other entrenchments are constructed at these locations.<br />
b. Training shall be conducted in a manner that avoids unnecessary<br />
damage to or destruction of natural resources (refer to Chapter 2 of this<br />
Order).<br />
2. Housing Areas. Units using the Bravo Three, Hotel, India, Juliett, and<br />
Oscar One Training Areas will remain clear of <strong>Base</strong> housing areas at all<br />
times. Entry into the Juliett Training Area will not be made via any 17 Area<br />
housing access roads.<br />
3. Aviation Facilities. Unless otherwise scheduled by the Range Scheduling<br />
Office and approved by LONGRIFLE, units training in the vicinity of any<br />
aviation facility shall remain clear by not less than 500 meters.<br />
