APPENDIX F<br />

Communication<br />

A. General. All personnel shall establish and maintain communication with<br />

LONGRIFLE when they are in training areas, off-shore operating areas,<br />

beaches, training facilities, ranges and/or operating within <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong><br />

special use airspace. If at any time, communication with LONGRIFLE is<br />

interrupted, that unit will immediately cease training and remain in an<br />

inactive or “check-fire” status until positive communication has been reestablished.<br />

B. Radio Communication<br />

1. Establishing Communication.<br />

a. Units shall establish communication with LONGRIFLE before leaving<br />

their cantonment area and again before entering any Training Area or Range.<br />

If communication cannot be established you are not authorized to occupy any<br />

Training Areas or Ranges.<br />

b. The frequencies listed below are approved for use by MCB, CamPen<br />

Range Operations.<br />

49.00 FM Primary <strong>Base</strong> Ground Safety Net<br />

30.35 FM Alternate <strong>Base</strong> Ground Safety Net<br />

301.9 UHF <strong>Base</strong> Air Safety Net<br />

249.9 UHF Used By Forward Air Controllers<br />

255.2 UHF Used By Forward Air Controllers<br />

300.1 UHF Used By Forward Air Controllers<br />

123.2 VHF Used By Civilian Aircraft<br />

140.400 VHF Used By Civilian Aircraft<br />

148.450 VHF R215A, R218A & R223B Target Systems<br />

143.950 VHF R409A Target Systems<br />

150.075 VHF PITS Targets & R501 Target System<br />

2. Communication Requirements<br />

a. All military units that have tactical radio gear shall use that as<br />

the sole method of communication with LONGRIFLE.<br />

b. Those military units that do not have tactical radio gear and<br />

civilian organizations may use the “Tango Net” to communicate with LONGRIFLE<br />

on that net.<br />

c. Cell phones may be used as a secondary means of communication (refer<br />

to Special Instructions pertaining to each range).<br />

d. A radio check with LONGRIFLE shall be made every hour by all units<br />

conducting training at any <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong> training facilities.<br />

(1) Non live-fire activities shall call at the top of the Hour.<br />
