Military Installation Map [reference (d)]. All portions of the SDZ diagram<br />
from the up-range edge of Area C and forward must fall within the limits of<br />
the artillery impact area as defined in paragraph 2.f. a<strong>bo</strong>ve, and may not<br />
impede on established NFAs as defined in Appendix B of this Order. The<br />
artillery battalion commander (or his designated representative) shall<br />
approve safety cards prior to firing; and all SDZs prior to submitting them<br />
to the Range Control Officer (RCO) for final approval.<br />
8. SDZ Diagram Locations. All SDZs are on file with the RCO. Any<br />
modifications or additions shall be submitted no less than fourteen (14) days<br />
prior to the event.<br />
9. Target Area. The target area, as depicted in the SDZ diagram, will be<br />
communicated to LONGRIFLE prior to the unit going into a hot status.<br />
10. SDZ Preclusions. SDZs shall be constructed to preclude firing over <strong>Base</strong><br />
cantonment areas, Ammunition Supply Points (ASPs) and Field Ammunition Supply<br />
Points (FASPs). The diagrams and range cards will remain valid as long as<br />
the battery center, determined upon occupation of the AFA, is within 200<br />
meters of the surveyed OS.<br />
11. Non-Designated AFAs. Use of an AFA not designated in this Order shall<br />
be made by a special request, accompanied by a SDZ diagram. Forward requests<br />
to the Commanding Officer, MCB, CamPen (AC/S, O&T) thirty (30) days prior to<br />
the proposed firing date. Establishment of an AFA, not described in this<br />
Order, shall also require an environmental review. Please refer to Chapter 2<br />
of this Order for environmental documentation requirements.<br />
12. Coordinates. The 11 th <strong>Marine</strong>s Survey data in paragraph J of this Chapter<br />
provides a listing of the coordinates, elevation (to the nearest tenth of a<br />
meter), and coordinating instructions for each approved AFA.<br />
13. Consolidated AFA Booklet. The Commanding Officer, 11 th <strong>Marine</strong>s has<br />
prepared a consolidated AFA <strong>bo</strong>oklet, with survey data cards, for each AFA.<br />
Each data card provides survey data, directions to, and a sketch of each AFA.<br />
The AFA <strong>bo</strong>oklets are on file with the Range Scheduling Office and 11 th<br />
<strong>Marine</strong>s. Artillery battalion S-3s should also have a copy of the AFA<br />
<strong>bo</strong>oklet.<br />
14. Surveys. Contact 11 th <strong>Marine</strong>s Regimental Survey for any information<br />
regarding surveys a<strong>bo</strong>ard <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong>.<br />
15. Special Use Airspace. Dimensions and operational characteristics of<br />
Special Use Airspace (SUA), required to support artillery live-fire, are<br />
discussed in detail in paragraph 4001 in Chapter 4 of this Order.<br />
C. Firing Precautions<br />
1. Overhead Fire. When firing over training areas, roadways, maneuver units<br />
or occupied positions, ammunition cleared for overhead-fire is required.<br />
2. No Fire Areas. No Fire Areas are listed in Appendix B of this Order,<br />
which shall be accounted for in the SDZ diagram construction.<br />
