Air Sentry<br />
An individual designated by the Officer in Charge (OIC) of<br />
Firing to maintain surveillance of an assigned sector of<br />
airspace to warn of the approach of aircraft.<br />
Artillery Firing<br />
Area<br />
Area established to support artillery firing activities.<br />
<strong>Base</strong><br />
<strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Corps</strong> <strong>Base</strong>, <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong> (MCB, CamPen).<br />
<strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong><br />
Amphibious Assault<br />
Area (CPAAA)<br />
An ocean area used for amphibious training activities and<br />
exercises.<br />
<strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong><br />
Amphibious Vehicle<br />
Area (CPAVA)<br />
An area contained within CPAAA. It is adjacent to the<br />
shoreline and used for amphibious training activities.<br />
Cantonment<br />
An area assigned for administrative and logistical<br />
functions, such as housing, troop billeting, offices,<br />
storage and maintenance areas. Normally, field training<br />
and live-firing are not conducted within cantonment areas.<br />
Common Impact Area<br />
The impact area created when the surface danger zones<br />
(SDZs) of concurrently used ranges overlap.<br />
Confined Area<br />
Landing Site<br />
(CALSITE)<br />
Helicopter landing areas located in <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong><br />
training areas used for confined area landing practice,<br />
external training, etc.<br />

Facility (CRCF)<br />
<strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Corps</strong> <strong>Base</strong> and <strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Corps</strong> Air Station <strong>Camp</strong><br />

Controlled Firing<br />
Area (CFA)<br />
Airspace established to conduct activities that would be<br />
hazardous to non-participating aircraft if not conducted<br />
in a controlled environment. It is the range user’s<br />
responsibility to provide for the safety of persons and<br />
property on the surface and to cease firing when aircraft<br />
transit the CFA.<br />
