at some point, Arkan demanded that Hadžić keep him informed of all current events when he<br />

was absent from meetings. 3567 According to Bogunović, Arkan exercised some degree of<br />

control over Hadžić. 3568 If the Government left Erdut to go to Vukovar, security was provided<br />

by Arkan’s soldiers. 3569<br />

1783. A few witnesses provided evidence on possible links between the SDG and the Serbian<br />

DB during the operations in the SAO SBWS in 1991/1992. Borislav Bogunović testified that<br />

Arkan did not report to the SAO SBWS Government and acted independently of any<br />

Government influence. 3570 Neither Ilija Kojić as Minister of Defence, nor the JNA had any<br />

authority over him. The witness testified that Arkan was subordinate to the Serbian MUP and<br />

Stanišić, rather than the JNA or the SAO SBWS Government. Although Arkan never issued<br />

any direct threats, Bogunović testified that there was a general perception that the<br />

consequences of opposing him could be violent. 3571<br />

1784. Witness JF-0<strong>30</strong>, a former Serb MUP officer, 3572 testified that a few days after the<br />

attack on Dalj, he went to Borovo Selo with Janko Milaković, where he saw Arkan in front of<br />

the Borovo Selo School with some of his men. Arkan and two other Serbian DB members<br />

showed MUP ID cards, and said that they were from the Serbian DB. 3573 The witness also<br />

concluded that they were from the DB due to their combat equipment and communication sets<br />

in the vehicles they arrived in. Further, the witness testified that other than members of the<br />

army or the police, no one could go from Serbia to Croatia with arms ammunition without the<br />

approval of the DB. 3574<br />

1785. Witness C-1118, a Croat from Osijek municipality, 3575 testified that at approximately<br />

10 a.m. on 20 November 1991, he was taken to Stričević for interrogation which lasted<br />

approximately one hour. 3576 Whilst detained at the Erdut training camp he overheard a<br />
