PTO/ESL for all Regular employees is accrued based upon scheduled<br />

hours each period. Regular Part-time employees shall accumulate<br />

PTO/ESL each pay period in accordance with the schedules provided in<br />

this Section, but such accrual will be prorated in the same ratio that the<br />

employee’s regular work schedule bears to a full-time schedule.<br />

b. Extended Sick Leave (ESL).<br />

There shall be a maximum cap <strong>of</strong> seven hundred sixty-eight (768) hours<br />

on the amount <strong>of</strong> ESL that may be accumulated for future use. Employees<br />

who have in excess <strong>of</strong> seven hundred sixty-eight (768) hours as <strong>of</strong><br />

February 15, 2001 shall be frozen at the amount <strong>of</strong> hours accrued as <strong>of</strong><br />

that date. An employee with an ESL balance above the seven hundred<br />

sixty-eight (768) hour balance will not accrue additional ESL until such<br />

time that the employee’s balance falls below the seven hundred sixty-eight<br />

(768) hour balance.<br />

c. Unpaid Absences.<br />

If an employee is on unpaid status with the Employer (e.g., unpaid leave<br />

<strong>of</strong> absence, lay<strong>of</strong>f, unpaid disciplinary status) for an entire pay period,<br />

there will be no accumulation <strong>of</strong> PTO/ESL for that pay period. “Unpaid<br />

status” means that there were no “paid straight-time hours’ in that pay<br />

period.<br />

3. Scheduling and Use <strong>of</strong> PTO.<br />

a. PTO can be used for vacations, paid holiday time <strong>of</strong>f, religious<br />

observances, dental or doctor visits, personal or family needs or business,<br />
