weekend. If an employee is required to work one <strong>of</strong> two days <strong>of</strong> the weekend he<br />

or she would normally be scheduled to <strong>of</strong>f, the employee shall be paid one and<br />

one half times (1 l/2 X) his or her regular pay for such work. To receive either<br />

weekend premium under this paragraph for a particular weekend, the employee<br />

must actually work the weekend prior to and subsequent to the weekend for which<br />

the premium is paid. The premium pay will not be deemed due until this<br />

prerequisite has been met. The employee will not receive weekend premium pay<br />

for any weekend that the employee is normally scheduled to work under his or her<br />

every other weekend <strong>of</strong>f schedule.<br />

At Seton, Saint Louise and O’Connor Only:<br />

I. Shift Rotation.<br />

Current rotating shifts may be continued, except that any complaint with respect to such<br />

rotation may be submitted to the Joint Labor Management Committee.<br />

J. Twelve-Hour Shifts<br />

This section on twelve-(12) hour shifts is applicable to Seton only.<br />

The Hospital shall provide the following when implementing twelve-(12) hour<br />

shifts:<br />

1. Shifts shall be twelve (12) hours worked in twelve and one half (12½)<br />

hours.<br />

2. Rest Periods: Three (3) fifteen (15) minute paid rest breaks during a<br />

twelve- (12-) Hour Shift.<br />

3. Meal Periods: There shall be one (1) uninterrupted unpaid meal period <strong>of</strong><br />

thirty (30) minutes and one (1) additional paid meal period <strong>of</strong> thirty (30) minutes;<br />

however the second paid meal period may be waived.<br />

4. Compensation: Employees shall be paid their straight time hourly rate for<br />

all hours worked within the twelve-(12) hour shift.<br />

5. Shifts: Day Shift: 0600 -1830 Night Shift: 1800 – 0630<br />

6. Rest Between Shifts: Each Regular Full-time, Regular Part-time, and<br />

Limited Part-time employee shall have an unbroken rest period <strong>of</strong> at least eleven<br />

and one half (11½) hours between shifts. Also, a Per Diem employee will not be<br />

charged with a refusal for declining a shift that starts within eleven and one half<br />

(11½) hours <strong>of</strong> the end <strong>of</strong> the last shift worked. All hours worked within the<br />

above rest period shall be paid at the rate <strong>of</strong> time and one-half (1½). Overtime for<br />

which premium pay is given shall count as rest periods for purposes <strong>of</strong> this<br />

Paragraph. The provisions <strong>of</strong> this paragraph may be waived on the written<br />

request <strong>of</strong> the individual employee and with the agreement <strong>of</strong> the supervisor.<br />
