8. Limitation. It is understood that any bid under this Article is limited to<br />

vacancies in bargaining unit positions and not to assignments arising from<br />

rotation <strong>of</strong> personnel, paid time <strong>of</strong>f, or sickness relief.<br />

9. Potential Vacancies. Employees expected to be on vacation for a period<br />

<strong>of</strong> more than seven (7) days may submit a request for transfer to a potentially<br />

available position. Such request must be submitted in writing to the Human<br />

Resources Department. Such written request shall constitute an automatic bid for<br />

thirty (30) days or for the period <strong>of</strong> vacation, whichever is less. It is understood<br />

that any written request under this Article is limited to vacancies or potential<br />

vacancies in permanent positions subject to this Agreement.<br />

10. Evaluation Period after Promotion or Transfer: Employees who are<br />

promoted to a new position or who transfer to another position through the<br />

bidding process, shall have orientation as necessary, and such employees shall<br />

have up to ninety (90) days <strong>of</strong> evaluation <strong>of</strong> their performance. If, at any time<br />

within such ninety (90) day period, the employee fails to perform satisfactorily,<br />

such employee shall be returned to his/her former position including shift,<br />

assignment, and scheduled hours without loss <strong>of</strong> seniority, provided his/her<br />

former position is still available. If the employee’s former position is not<br />

available, the employee shall be returned to a comparable position in the same<br />

classification.<br />

L. Departmental Structure<br />

The following are the Hospitals’ departments for purposes <strong>of</strong> bidding, lay<strong>of</strong>f, and recall<br />

only. These departments shall not apply to any other section <strong>of</strong> this Agreement.<br />

Additionally, there is a side letter agreement applicable to the nursing division at<br />

O’Connor.<br />
