LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Dear Mark,
On behalf of Rover-Landers BC and the 19th
Annual Northwest Challenge Organizing
Committee and entrants, I acknowledge the
continued support from Rovers North of this
unique event. Thank you for every donation of
gift certificates for each vehicle entry.
The Northwest Challenge was a great
success with entrants from British Columbia,
Alberta, Washington and Oregon, and all of
them were challenged in ways that only a
Land Rover owner could truly appreciate.
These events and hosting organizations
are only as successful as the support that is
received. Thank you for your very generous
support.
[Rovers North really appreciates the hard
work that clubs do to keep Land Rover
marque values alive and well.
Congratulations on a great event -ed]
Dear Rovers North,
I drive a Defender 90 daily, and as we all
know they go through parts and I can usually
find everything I need at Rovers North.
Thanks again and keep up the inventory and
knowledgeable people on staff. You’re doing
a great job!
[I am envious that you get to drive a
Defender 90 every day. What a great way to
make the most mundane trips a Land
Rover adventure –ed]
Hey folks,
We appreciate the great service we have
received from Rovers North in the purchases
we have made. You are speedy when we are
needy! Living in a non-Rover dealer town,
your service has been helpful and as our
Rover begins its inevitable mechanical
decline, Rovers North will be a lifesaver.
[You join thousands of Land Rover owners
who live hundreds of miles away from the
nearest Land Rover dealer. For classic Land
Rover, Range Rover and Discovery enthusiasts,
Rovers North is a valuable lifeline to
get the most out of their Rover –ed]
Dear Sir,
Last summer, while on a “plains game” safari
in Namibia, fully anticipating to be ferried
about in either a Defender 110 or 130, I was
somewhat disappointed when the vehicle of
choice turned out to be a diesel-powered
Toyota Pickup. I inquired of my two professional
hunters, brothers Jaco and Mare Van
de Merve, as to why they were using Toyotas
rather than Land Rovers to transport their
hunting clients. Their response was that they
could purchase two Toyotas for the price of
one Defender. Later, while spending the night
in Windhoek, I sighted a pristine Defender
130 Crew Cab, with a camper top, parked in
a hotel parking lot, muttering to myself as to
why this vehicle hasn’t found its way to US
shores.
[The strong pound sterling might be great
for national pride and central bankers, but
it’s not much for export industries. Land
Rover products cost more than Toyotas,
Nissans, or Suzukis and that’s a real challenge
for Land Rover. Remember that in the
world of automobile manufacturing, Land
Rover does not produce many cars. So
there’s little economy of scale. As for a US
Defender, think about our interior safety
and emission regulations –ed.]
To the staff of Rovers North
Everyone at the Florida Land Rover Club
would like to extend a huge FLRC thank you
for sponsoring our Fall 2007 Rally. The Rally
was a huge success. We had approximately 65
trucks and over 120 people in attendance.
From the trail to the meeting hall, our club
members share stories of great success with
Rovers North and all of your staff.
We appreciate your continuous generosity.
Without folks like you, we would not have
the raffle and the raffle is a big part of our rallies.
Thanks again for providing us with very
high-end products. The proceeds gained
from the sale of raffle tickets ensure the financial
stability of the club. On behalf of every
FLRC member, thank you for your generosity.
Stephen Peters
President, FLRC
[Congratulations on another successful
rally. Remember to call the Editor directly if
you need personal delivery of products during,
say, February! –ed]
Hi,
I have a 1972 Series III 109” SW, a 1979
Series III 109” canvas top, and a 2004
Discovery Series III. I really enjoy shopping at
Dear Rovers North,
I wanted to say thank you to Mark and all the
staff at Rovers North for your support of the
2007 SOLAROS SAE Rally. Your donation of
gift certificates for our charity auction helped
to raise almost $2400. The decals and copies
of the Rovers North News were also in high
demand.
Once again, thank you!
Hello Rovers North,
I’m new at this – in fact, my first Land Rover,
a 1963 Series II-A is still waiting for transport
for a seller many miles away! Special thanks
to Arthur Patsouris for putting me in touch
with one of the previous owners.
[Welcome to the world of Land Rover
enthusiasts! Let us know how the work on
the II-A goes. And we’ll pass along your
thanks to Arthur –ed.]
