Community Service<br />

Alpha Delta Pi<br />

Alpha Delta Pi participated in the Campus Community service day on September 8. We had 60 members participate,<br />

which was over 40% of our chapter. We helped clean up around campus and the community by picking up litter. The officer<br />

in charge was Peyton Fredricksen. The contact person from the university is Jonathon Cellon.<br />

Alpha Delta Pi participated in the Campus Community service day on November 12. We had 66 members<br />

participate and this was over 20% of our chapter. We helped clean up around campus and the community during<br />

homecoming by picking up litter. The officer in charge was Peyton Fredricksen. The contact person from the university is<br />

Jonathon Cellon.<br />

Alpha Gamma Delta<br />

Alpha Gamma Delta hosted a game night for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization on October 2. Board games<br />

were set up inside the Christian Student Center along with outdoor games such as kickball and beach volleyball where the<br />

girls were able to interact and play with the kids. Dinner was provided for all kids and family who attended. There were<br />

89 members in attendance or 78% of the chapter. The officer in charge was Allison Milstead. The contact person from Big<br />

Brothers/Big Sisters was Mindy Carter.<br />

Sisters of Alpha Gamma Delta worked alongside <strong>Troy</strong> <strong>University</strong> for a campus-wide community day of service on<br />

November 12. There were 78 members in attendance, which is 69% of our chapter. We rolled trash bags to place around<br />

tailgate terrace to help keep the campus clean for the homecoming festivities. The officer in charge was Allison Milstead. The<br />

contact person from the university was Johnathon Cellon.<br />

Alpha Gamma Delta took part in the First Baptist Church after school program on November 28. The girls tutored<br />

the children, assisted with homework, and enjoyed playing in the gym while snacks were provided. There were 82 members<br />

present which represents 73% of the chapter. The officer in charge was Allison Milstead. The contact person from First Baptist<br />

Church was Zac Spann.<br />

Alpha Tau Omega<br />

Alpha Tau Omega participated in the Campus Community service day on September 8. We had 36 members who<br />

participated and that is over 50 % of our chapter. Our members were split up into groups on this day. We had some of our<br />

members at the Salvation Army, some of our members volunteering at the nursing home, some of our members cleaning up<br />

the campus and some of our members at the pioneer village helping with landscape and maintenance. The officer in charge<br />

was Joseph Carter. The contact person from the university is Mrs. Patterson.<br />

Alpha Tau Omega participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Christmas Party on December 7. We had 35 of our<br />

members participate and that is over 50 % of our chapter. For this event, we purchased Christmas gifts that were given to the<br />

children at this party and we also volunteered during the party as fill-in bigs and volunteers for the children that did not have<br />

a big brother. We also helped set up the event and clean up the event at the end. The officer in charge was Joseph Carter.<br />

The contact person from Big Brothers Big Sisters is Mindy Carter.


Alpha Tau Omega also participated in the homecoming service day as well. We had over half of our chapter there to<br />

help out with the recycling service project. The officer in charge was Jarrod Morgan.<br />

Chi Omega<br />

Chi Omega members participated in a community service day of promoting the Make-A-Wish Foundation on October<br />

22, <strong>2012</strong>. 82 members participated and that is 62% of our chapter. We promoted the Make-A-Wish Foundation by talking to<br />

people and handing out Make-A-Wish informational pamphlets. The officer in charge was Mary Turner Barron. The contact<br />

person from the Make-A-Wish Foundation is Wendi Fareri. ( advocacy)<br />

Chi Omega members volunteered at local thrift stores and the senior center on October 27th, <strong>2012</strong>. 33 members<br />

participated, which is 25% of our chapter. We volunteered at the Salvation Army and Goodwill where we sorted clothes,<br />

organized bookshelves and cleaned. Members also volunteered at the Colley Center where they cleaned and organized rooms.<br />

The officer in charge was Mary Turner Barron. The contact person for the Salvation Army is Kimberly May. The contact person<br />

for Goodwill is Dianne.<br />

Delta Chi<br />

1) 9/22/12 - The active and alumni brothers of Delta Chi were very involved with the Dee Hughes Cancer Benefit which<br />

raised over $10,000 for a local teacher who is also the wife of a <strong>Troy</strong> policeman. The benefit featured a raffle and plate lunch<br />

sales at Miss Colleen’s Restaurant. 34 of the 37 Delta Chi active brothers participated in working the event which accounts for<br />

92% chapter participation. The officer in charge was Josh White and alumni BB officer, Russell Mann. Total 400 hours of<br />

4) 11/27/12 - Eight active brothers of Delta Chi worked the Salvation Army Kettle at Food World for a 3 hour period. 8/37<br />

gives a 22% participation rate for this activity. The officer in charge was David Dove.<br />

Delta Sigma Theta<br />

Floppy Hats and Sun dresses:<br />

This event was for the women at <strong>Troy</strong> <strong>University</strong>. We played games and had girl talk with all the girls about issues they may be<br />

having at <strong>Troy</strong>. We also gave advice to the women about some situations that we were in that were similar to their own. The<br />

whole chapter (60%) was there for this event and everyone did their part to make this event a success.<br />

October Fest:<br />

We had a fall festival on the <strong>Troy</strong> <strong>University</strong> campus for the <strong>Troy</strong> community. We had games, prizes and face painting. The<br />

turnout was great! There were many children and families there and they enjoyed every part of it. Part (40%) of the Chapter was<br />

there we had lots of fun.<br />

Noble Manor:


We volunteered at noble manor every other Wednesday. We would play bingo with the residents. They enjoyed us being there<br />

and helping out. The whole (60%) chapter was involved in this.<br />

FarmHouse<br />

FarmHouse directed a Be The Match: National Bone Marrow Donor Registry Donor Drive on October 9th. This<br />

consisted of 100% of the chapter’s participation and was held in partnership with Momma Goldberg’s deli, <strong>Troy</strong> Cheerleaders<br />

and The Civic Engagement Office. Each member worked for one hour and registered donors, recruited donors and facilitated<br />

the swabbing of DNA. Contact: Rachael Harris with the National Office.<br />

FarmHouse cleaned our Highway stretch on Highway 231 in <strong>Troy</strong> on August 25th between Krystal’s Restaurant and the <strong>Troy</strong><br />

Industrial Park. 75% of the chapter participated and advisor Oliver Aaron at 334-559-9645 should be contacted with any<br />

questions on this semi-annual event FarmHouse participated in the Care for the Community Service Day on September 8th<br />

30% of our chapter participated in the event. Jonathan Cellon is the contact.<br />

Activism Projects:<br />

Brantwood Children’s Home Table for 8 Hours on Bibb Graves Quad 50 members participated for 3 hours a piece for<br />

150 Activism Hours. Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Table for 8 Hours on Bibb Graves Quad 50 members participated for<br />

two hours a piece for 100 Activism Hours.<br />

Kappa Delta<br />

Project 1: Kappa Delta participated in a community service project through <strong>Troy</strong> Health and Rehabilitation. We went<br />

to <strong>Troy</strong> Health and Rehabilitation to play Banana Bingo with the residents of <strong>Troy</strong> Health and Rehab. We had 55 members<br />

attend and that is 45% of our chapter. The contact person in charge of the project is Julie Murphy. The contact person in<br />

charge of <strong>Troy</strong> Health and Rehabilitation.<br />

Project 2: Kappa Delta participated in a community service project through Pike Regional Child Advocacy Center.<br />

We hosted a fall festival with the CAC for the children in <strong>Troy</strong>. We had 75 members attend and that is 65% of our chapter. The<br />

contact person in charge of the project is Julie Murphy. The contact person in charge of the CAC is Camille Downing.<br />

Lambda Chi Alpha<br />

This year our chapter decided instead of building a homecoming float for the homecoming parade, we would walk in<br />

the parade with the Boys & Girls Club. The week of homecoming, on November 16, 2013, our chapter went out to the Boys &<br />

Girls Club and met with the kids and played with them for right at four hours and then had them walk in the parade with our<br />

chapter on following morning. Our chapter alongside with the Boys & Girls Club carried their sign for the parade. Along with<br />

our chapter donation of $255.00, we raised $1,000.00 for the Boys & Girls Club to help support the club. We brought<br />

awareness to our alumni, local business owners, and business owners outside of the <strong>Troy</strong> area of the non-profit organizations<br />

need for help. The officer in charge was our Vice President of External Affairs, Scott Hubbard, Jr. There were 55 members attended<br />

this event.<br />

The brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha came together in the month of December to help the Big Brother/ Big Sister<br />

program during the Christmas season. We asked that the brotherhood come together and buy a five to ten dollar gift to donate<br />

to the program to allow for the kids in this program to receive something for Christmas. As a fraternity, we ended up donating<br />

49 gifts to the program. Together, we wrapped and delivered the gifts to the headquarters.


Phi Mu<br />

Phi Mu volunteered at the Pike Pioneer Museum October 16th through 19th. 112 chapter members participated in this<br />

event and these members make up 100% of our chapter. We did different chores around the museum such as sweeping,<br />

mopping, planting flowers, picking up sticks outside, and raking leaves. The officer in charge was Emy Mangra. The contact<br />

person for the Pioneer Museum is Assistant Director Charlotte Smith.<br />

Phi Mu volunteered for DHR on November 29th, 2013. 111 members participated in this holiday event and these girls<br />

make up 100% of our chapter. Each chapter member donated a gift for a young girl that we believe they deserved to have for<br />

the Christmas season. We purchased gifts for girls who are ages 13 to 18 years old. The items donated include makeup, clothes,<br />

and athletic toys. The officer in charge was Anna Jones. The contact person from DHR is Margaret Ingram.<br />

Phi Mu created baskets for the Boys and Girls Club Silent Auction on November 2nd, 2013. 111 members participated<br />

in this basket donation which makes up 100% of our chapter. Each pledge class president chose a theme for her pledge class<br />

and made a basket centralized around the theme. These four baskets were auctioned off at the silent auction. The officer in<br />

charge was Katie Schneider. The contact person for the Silent Auction is Sadaris Williams.<br />

Sigma Chi<br />

The brothers of Sigma Chi had the opportunity to give back to the city of <strong>Troy</strong> this past fall semester by picking up<br />

trash along south brundige street. The cleanup started at the Filling Station on South Brundige and ended at City Hall. We<br />

were given this opportunity by the troy public works department. 70% of our chapter participated in the project.<br />

Sigma Chi Project Two<br />

The brothers of Sigma Chi participated in the big brothers big sisters Christmas party this past December. Outside of<br />

participating at the party we adopted five kids and donated 150 dollars’ worth of presents to them. It was enjoyable to our<br />

brothers to have an opportunity to give back to children that are less fortunate and may not have the Christmas experience that<br />

we have. 40% of our brothers participated in the project.<br />

TKE<br />

Tau Kappa Epsilon participated in Sorority Haunted Hill on Wed, October 31st, <strong>2012</strong>. 6 member participated which is<br />

75% of the chapter size. Dakota Punzel was the officer involved. The contact person for the <strong>University</strong> was Ms. Barbara<br />

Patterson.<br />

Tau Kappa Epsilon helped incoming students move in during check-ins on 8/11/<strong>2012</strong> and 8/12/<strong>2012</strong>. 3 of our members<br />

participated. This is 37% of our chapter size. Evan Dew was the officer in charge. Ms. LuAnn Knight is the <strong>University</strong> contact.<br />

Tau Kappa Epsilon participated in the day of service on Veterans Day, Monday, November 12th, <strong>2012</strong>. 5 of our members<br />

participated. This is 62% of our chapter. Sean Blessing was the officer in charge. Cody Farrill was the <strong>University</strong> contact.<br />

Zeta Phi Beta<br />

ZPB contributed to the Salvation Army on a number of occasions. They helped straighten out the store, worked with<br />

their food bank, and sorted through new donations. One member contributed on a weekly basis throughout the semester. The<br />

contact person is Kelley Williams.<br />

ZPB contributed baskets to the Office of Student Involvement as a community service project which included a movie theme<br />

basket. Four members contributed to donating items and making the baskets and the contact person is Akaimee Knight.<br />

During the semester, ZPB held an HIV/Aids testing site during their week. The entire chapter participated and the<br />

department of health came over, set up supplies, and provided free and confidential testing to students and faculty. The contact<br />

person is Chandreka Williams.


Some of the members visited a couple local daycares and schools throughout the semester to read to the children and even help<br />

out the owner with activities for the kids. Kanesha Ward was in charge of this event.<br />

Kappa Alpha Psi<br />

Kappa Alpha Psi participated in the Boys and Girls Club Steak and Burger Program on November 8, <strong>2012</strong>. 9 members<br />

participated, and that is 75% of our Chapter. We helped prepare and serve the food and refreshments, set up the decorations,<br />

and interact with the guests. The person in charge was Payton McGhee. The contact person from the Boys and Girls Club is<br />

Ms. Pamela Nealey.<br />

Kappa Alpha Psi participated in the Campus Initiative Voter Registration on September 19, <strong>2012</strong>. 7 members<br />

participated, and that is 58% of our Chapter. We set up a table on the quad and Trojan Center and encouraged and informed<br />

students on how to register to vote. The person in charge was Payton McGee. The contact person for the Campus Initiative is<br />

Sadaris Williams.<br />
