Design trends are a direct result to changing<br />

social, economical and ecological influences.<br />

Today’s architecture is eco-responsible<br />

The consideration of energy efficiency and<br />

environmental impact (CO 2<br />

recycled content, recyclability) of building<br />

materials is paramount in <strong>the</strong> design and<br />

ORCAL Canopy is part of Armstrong’s<br />

extensive range of discontinuous ceilings and<br />

canopies. The canopies come in three different<br />

designs (flat, concave and convex) and give<br />

<strong>the</strong> designer or specifier <strong>the</strong> ability to:<br />

■ Create spaces or areas within larger<br />

spaces or rooms, adding definition and<br />

local acoustic comfort (speech intelligibility)<br />

to an area or working zone.<br />

■ Provide a high level of design flexibility as<br />

<strong>the</strong> canopies come in three different designs<br />

and can be used independently or as<br />

groups and arrays.<br />

The panels come with a high durability paint<br />

finish as standard, making <strong>the</strong>m easy to clean<br />

and maintain. The canopies have an Extra<br />

Microperforation pattern that provides<br />

a clean visual with good acoustical and light<br />

reflectance performances.<br />

The canopy is fully enclosed ensuring that if<br />

<strong>the</strong> reverse face is visible it fully compliments<br />

OPtIMA is a low density product with<br />

glass wool as core material. Its white<br />

and strong surface is obtained by <strong>the</strong><br />

application of an abrasion resistant paint<br />

on a glass fibre face scrim.<br />

<strong>the</strong> Board edges are painted to avoid<br />

<strong>the</strong> dispersion of fibres. to provide<br />

excellent mechanical strength, all products<br />

have a fibre glass fleece at <strong>the</strong> back and<br />

<strong>the</strong> tegular & MicroLook edges are<br />

reinforced and painted.<br />

OPtIMA provides <strong>the</strong> highest levels of<br />

sound absorption with an aw up to 1.00.<br />

this makes it an ideal product for open<br />

plan offices, cafeterias, or any o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

places where too much noise can be<br />

disruptive.<br />

Its fine textured white surface, similar<br />

to <strong>the</strong> ULtIMA finish (see p. 47), makes it<br />

BIOGUARD RAnGe<br />

■ Bioguard is a special surface paint applied to Armstrong mineral and metal tiles.<br />

■ Bioguard provides active protection against bio-contamination.<br />

■ Bioguard inhibit <strong>the</strong> growth of bacteria, mould and yeast, such as MRSA, E-coli,<br />

surface and sealed edges provide an ISO 5<br />

cleanroom performance and make <strong>the</strong><br />

product suitable for high pressure water<br />

cleaning (max 80 bars)*.<br />

Thanks to <strong>the</strong> acoustically transparent face<br />

scrim and low density base board, <strong>the</strong><br />

product achieves a 0.95 aW.<br />

of min 30° angle and not a high pressure “cutting” jet.<br />
