<strong>South</strong> <strong>Suburban</strong> Park <strong>and</strong> <strong>Recreation</strong> District<br />

Mission <strong>and</strong> Goals<br />

Each year the District’s goals are reevaluated <strong>and</strong> updated to ensure the proper distribution of<br />

the District resources. This is done by reviewing the previous year’s goals, the outcome of<br />

those goals, as well as, for the changing needs of the District, community, <strong>and</strong> citizens. The<br />

goals may also change because of the local economy. The District’s goals <strong>and</strong> objectives<br />

have changed somewhat from the 2011 <strong>Budget</strong>. The long term goals <strong>and</strong> <strong>2012</strong> goals are an<br />

important part the of the annual budget process. These objectives guide the decisions made<br />

when allocating the limited resources of the District.<br />

Administration Department<br />

The mission of the Administration Department is to support the mission of the District by<br />

facilitating the effective <strong>and</strong> efficient delivery of services at each of the Department's<br />

organizational units through assisting with planning <strong>and</strong> policy development <strong>and</strong><br />

coordinating administrative functions <strong>and</strong> systems.<br />

The Administration Departments includes the various functions that support the operation of<br />

all programs within the District, which include human resources, communications, <strong>and</strong><br />

general administration.<br />

Human Resources<br />

Mission<br />

The mission of the Human Resources Department is to foster a work environment that<br />

attracts <strong>and</strong> inspires excellence in people so that <strong>South</strong> <strong>Suburban</strong> is successful in serving our<br />

community. In Human Resources, we take care of the individuals that take care of <strong>South</strong><br />

<strong>Suburban</strong>!<br />

Department Overview<br />

Human Resource Department is committed to: Service Excellence, Effective<br />

Communication, Collaborative Partnerships, Continuous Advancement, Respect, Managing<br />

Risk, <strong>and</strong> a Strategic Focus. This is accomplished with integrity, consistency,<br />

approachability, confidentiality, <strong>and</strong> trustworthiness. Living by these principles establishes<br />

<strong>and</strong> promotes professional credibility <strong>and</strong> interpersonal trust throughout the District.<br />

The Human Resources Department has three full-time <strong>and</strong> two part-time positions that are<br />

responsible for providing a full range of human resources services to the entire District. In<br />

summary we serve 7 departments, approximately 120 supervisors <strong>and</strong> 1,587 employees<br />

(Based on W-2’s for 2010). The work of the Department can be organized into these main<br />

functional areas:<br />

Employee Lifecycle: Recruiting, Hiring <strong>and</strong> Employee Separation<br />

Employee Development, Training <strong>and</strong> Communication<br />

Compensation <strong>and</strong> Recognition<br />

Wellness <strong>and</strong> Benefits<br />
