SUMMARY<br />

• All EC Directives have been implemented, this includes the 4 Dirctives adopted last year.<br />

• No additional national provisions.<br />

• Since devolution was introduced in 1999, England, Scotland and Wales have separate legislation. Northern Ireland has had<br />

separate legislation <strong>for</strong> many years.<br />

• Legislation is published by the Stationery Office Limited under the authority <strong>of</strong> the Office <strong>of</strong> Public Sector (OPSI). Legislation<br />

issued since 1997 is also published, free-<strong>of</strong>-charge, on the OPSI website at http://www.opsi.gov.uk<br />

• Most legislation is made under the powers <strong>of</strong> the Food Safety Act 1990, in Great Britain the Food Safety (Northern Ireland)<br />

Order 1991, in Northern Ireland. The ceramics regulations, which apply across the UK, are made under the Consumer<br />

Protection Act 1987.<br />
