partly in longshore sandbars at the edge of the ebb tidal delta, and
partly in t?a? channels, especially where these have lost their role as
distributaries of ehh currents £ran the estuary.
It is to be expected that these processes will continue in fhe future
at a reduq rate, until a new equilibrium has been established. The
longshore bare, stagnating at a height level of araund mean sea-lwel
(NAP), will continue to stretch in a direction parallel to the coast,
at the same time moving further landward (Kohsiek, et al. 1989).

3.3 Category Grevelingen
After constructian of the Grevelingetl Dam (1965) and the Brouwers Dam
(1971). the G?3?Tellngen basin mat be charracterized a a stagnaat
saltwater basin, without any tidal ot flwiel influence. Waves are the
only ge~morphologically active drfving force that has been left.
Theoretically changes of such nature will induce erosion of the sandy
shoals and mudflats, and sedimntation of tbe ehannels (conform
