television, lights or any other electric devices.

Be wary of eco tours that involve the harm of animals,
especially those on the endangered species list. Support only
organizations that are certified cruelty-free.

Carry a recyclable bag with you in which to carry dirty
laundry home.
Leave the little bottles of amenities you love in the
guestroom, if unopened. Is it really necessary to have a
collection of those?
C Rather than buying small size toothpaste tubes, squeeze
some toothpaste into a clean contact lens cases, lens
cleaning capsules, or reusable containers. These are also
handy for carrying salves or pills.
C If the hotel provides complimentary newspapers, pass yours
on to someone else, or leave it in the lobby for another reader.
Ask the hotel to see that it’s recycled.

Be sure to turn off exercise equipment, sauna, steam room,
whirlpool, jacuzzi or court lights when you’re through.

Shopping locally at your travel destinations does aid in
generating the economy. However, avoid purchasing
endangered species products such as tortoise shell, ivory,
animal skins or feathers.
