This application checklist helps to ensure that you have included all of the documentation that is needed by the Australian<br />
High Commission Colombo to process your visa application.<br />
How to use this checklist<br />
1. Before you sign your visa application form, use this checklist to ensure that you have included all necessary<br />
documentation to support your claims.<br />
2. When you are satisfied that you have correctly completed your visa application form and all of the necessary<br />
documentation is included, you should sign and date your visa application form.<br />
3. Include this completed checklist, when you lodge your visa application form and necessary documentation.<br />

Please be aware that the decision on your visa application may be decided on the information and documentation that<br />
you include at the time of lodgement.<br />
Delivery and courier charges<br />
You are responsible for all of the costs of delivering information to the Australian High Commission Colombo by mail or<br />
courier, including any additional information that may be requested by the Australian High Commission Colombo. If you<br />
give this requested additional information to the Australian Visa Application Centre, you may be charged a courier fee for<br />
delivery to the Australian High Commission Colombo. If you submit additional documents without a request from<br />
Australian High Commission Colombo at the Australian Visa Application Centre, you are responsible for all delivery and<br />
courier charges.<br />

About the documentation that you include:<br />
• Documentation provided will depend on your personal circumstances. Below are examples only and not exhaustive<br />
• For original documents that you would like returned, please include copies and place the originals in a separate<br />
envelope<br />
• Documentation must be either in English or a certified translation must be included with the original or certified copy<br />
• Accompanying family members (spouse and dependent children) may be included in this application at no<br />
extra charge.<br />

language proficiency (original IELTS test results for a test taken no longer than 2 years<br />
before the date of your application)<br />

Financial requirement: You must declare on your Student visa application and submit<br />
evidence from an acceptable source that you have sufficient funds to cover yourself and your<br />
family members for your stay in Australia, including tuition fees.<br />

funds required and categories of expenses which need to be funded for living in Australia is<br />

Evidence of Relationships<br />
Evidence of the relationship between the applicant and all members of their family unit<br />
(spouse and children only), including those who are not joining the applicant in Australia. For<br />
example, birth certificate of child, adoption certificate of a child, evidence of custody of child,<br />
marriage certificate. We suggest that you send certified copies rather than originals.<br />

Applicants under the age of 18<br />
Certified permission from both parents (included on birth certificate) for visa to be granted.<br />
Otherwise, evidence that one of the parents has no custodial rights (for example: death<br />
certificate, court decision record).<br />

Australian visa to a child under the age of 18 years<br />
You must provide evidence of either (a), (b) or (c);<br />
(a) If you intend to reside in Australia with a parent, or a person who has custody of you, you<br />
must provide evidence of the relationship and that they have the right to remain in Australia<br />
for the period of your stay, or until you turn 18 years, whichever is the lesser period.<br />
(b) If you intend to reside in Australia with a relative nominated by a parent or a person who<br />
has custody of you, you must provide evidence of the relationship, evidence that the relative<br />
is at least 21 years old, police clearance/s, and evidence that the relative has the right to<br />
remain in Australia for the period of your stay, or until you turn 18, whichever is the lesser<br />
period.<br />
(c) If you will not be residing in Australia with one of the above mentioned persons, you must<br />

provide a signed statement from your education provider confirming that appropriate<br />
arrangements have been made for your accommodation, support and general welfare during<br />
your stay in Australia.<br />

If you will be accommodated in boarding school environment at all times and/or you will be<br />
accommodated by non-relatives at any time during the period of your stay in Australia, you<br />
will be required to give the school further information about the proposed care arrangements.<br />
Please contact your school for further advice.<br />
This does not apply to secondary school exchange program students, AusAid students,<br />
students being accompanied by a parent/guardian, or student placed full-time with a Rotary<br />
International approved guardian.<br />

Health and Character<br />
You are required to undergo a health assessment by a panel doctor nominated by DIAC. For<br />

If you have been charged with or convicted of a criminal offence, you must provide an<br />
original Police Certificate (not more than 12 months old) from the relevant country<br />

If you have served in the armed force of any country, you may be required to provide certified<br />
copies of military service records or discharge papers.<br />
