A man, or monstrous cannibal? <strong>and</strong> canst thou tamely see<br />
This gobl<strong>in</strong> come <strong>in</strong>to the wood to ask this boon of thee?<br />
And is thy heart a piece of stone fast bound about with steel,<br />
To care not when this greedy man, who can no pity feel,<br />
B<strong>in</strong>ds us, <strong>and</strong> drives us off like k<strong>in</strong>e? At least I would appeal<br />
That sister Kaṇha, who as yet no trouble knows, may stay,<br />
Now cry<strong>in</strong>g like a suck<strong>in</strong>g fawn lost from the herd away."
