All round about the water's edge are st<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> a row<br />
The ebony, the trumpet-flower, <strong>and</strong> tall kadamba-trees.<br />
Six-petals <strong>and</strong> many another tree 1 with flowers all a-blow,<br />
And leafy bowers all st<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g round about the lake one sees.<br />
There trees of every shape <strong>and</strong> size, there flowers of every hue,<br />
All shrubs <strong>and</strong> bushes, high <strong>and</strong> low are spread before the view:<br />
The breezes sweetly waft the scent from flowers white, blue, <strong>and</strong> red,<br />
That grow about the hermitage where<strong>in</strong> the fire is fed.<br />
